Fine, golden sand and an inland harbour with several canals give Port Saplaya its distinctive character. The townscape is also striking: low-rise homes in various colours shape the area. If you want to centre your stay around the water, you can choose between the beach, nautical activities and water sports; the Fiestas del Carmen add a cultural event of their own.
Beach, promenade and access
Port Saplaya’s beach is known for its fine, golden sand. There is a promenade with restaurants and a nautical club alongside it. Beach facilities include access walkways, toilets and showers, as well as a car park suitable for people with reduced mobility. Some services may vary seasonally.
Reserved parking spaces, ramps and special wheelchair access walkways are also available at the beaches. The accessible bathing and beach facilities are located opposite the Al Campo roundabout. If these facilities are important for your visit, check the current service conditions before travelling.
Pool Beach Saplaya is a beach club at Alboraya’s municipal swimming pool complex. It is ten metres from the sea, at the end of the northern promenade. Facilities include a swimming pool, a solarium, a terrace with a bar and café, and an adjoining multi-purpose sports court. Some facilities may vary seasonally.
The dog beach is in the southern part of Port Saplaya, between the northern mouth of the El Carraixet and the mouth of the La Marquesa irrigation channel. This location clearly distinguishes it from the beach area along the promenade.
Marina and water sports
The Marina de Port Saplaya offers moorings and services related to boats and sailing. Water sports available there include surfing, sailing and SUP. There are also various courses and services for specific activities: Mediterranean Surf offers rentals, lessons and courses in surfing, SUP and longboarding. XSA Surf offers courses in surfing, paddle surfing, longboarding, shortboarding and bodyboarding. If you are looking for rentals or lessons, or have a particular course discipline in mind, these differences may help you choose. Check dates and operator conditions before booking.
Jet Sky Saplaya offers jet ski rides with guidance from experienced professionals. Mundo Marino’s boat trip offers a different perspective on the route: it runs from La Marina de Valencia to Port Saplaya. Check availability before travelling. The options mentioned therefore differ in activity and starting point; each can be considered a distinct focus for your stay.
Fiestas del Carmen and local history
Port Saplaya was established as a residential area in the 1970s. The Fiestas del Carmen honour Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the patron saint of sailors. The festivities include a maritime procession in her honour. They take place in the second or third week of July; check the exact dates locally before travelling. So, if you want to plan your visit around this festival, checking the dates is part of your planning.
Getting there by bus
Bus route 112B connects Valencia with Port Saplaya. If you plan to use this connection for your trip, check the current route before travelling. This will help you coordinate your journey with the beach, water sports or cultural activities planned for your stay.
