Benissa offers several specific reasons to stay: the four-kilometre Paseo Ecológico, coves with different characteristics, cycling routes for various types of bike, as well as art and recurring festivals. You can focus on coastal scenery and exercise, cycling or culture. To help you decide, consider which aspects matter most to you: a path with information boards, a cove with calm, shallow water, a cycling route with a specified length and difficulty rating, or a festival month.

Coastal Path and Coves

The Paseo Ecológico de Benissa runs for four kilometres along the entire coastline and is signposted throughout. Information boards along the way provide details about the area’s history, vegetation and distinctive features. This makes the path a specific route that also offers information about nature and history. Access conditions may vary, and the signs may require maintenance; check the current route and access conditions before setting out.

Cala Baladrar and Cala de Pinets differ in scenery, size and water conditions. Baladrar lies among cliffs and pine trees that reach almost to the sea, and has clear water over a pebble seabed. Cala de Pinets is 60 metres long, about 10 metres wide and is also a pebble cove; its water is calm and shallow. Baladrar’s character is shaped by the surrounding coastal landscape, while Pinets also offers specific dimensions and calm, shallow water. A footpath with information boards about Benissa’s coastline leads to Cala de Pinets. Snorkelling, diving, kayaking and hiking are possible at the cove.

Cycling and Water Sports

There is also a choice of cycling routes to suit different types of bike: Benissa offers routes for road bikes, mountain bikes and gravel bikes. The Benissa - Bernia BTT route is 35.40 kilometres long and rated difficult; the Ruta del moscatell BTT is shorter, at 20.10 kilometres, and rated easy. Those choosing between these two mountain biking routes can therefore compare a longer, difficult-rated route with a shorter, easy-rated one. Route conditions may vary; check them before setting off.

Benissa’s clear coastal waters are also suitable for diving, sailing, windsurfing and kayaking. This extends the range of activities beyond those available at Cala de Pinets: sailing and windsurfing add further coastal options to the water activities that are also possible there.

Art and Festival Dates

The Espai d’Art Contemporani Salvador Soria is located in the historic Les Cases del Batlle manor house and promotes contemporary art. The combination of a historic manor house and a centre for contemporary art adds a distinct cultural dimension alongside Benissa’s nature and activity offerings.

In April, Benissa celebrates the Fiestas Patronales in honour of the Purísima Xiqueta; Moros y Cristianos takes place in June. The two recurring festivals therefore fall in different months, although the exact dates vary each year. If you’d like to plan your trip around a festival, check the specific event date before finalising your travel dates.
