Valdemoro combines historic buildings with signposted nature routes. The options also differ in the architectural styles, route lengths and levels of difficulty that may matter when planning your visit.

Monastery, Churches and Historic Buildings

The Monastery of the Clarisas Franciscanas de la Encarnación was protected as a monument in the Bien de Interés Cultural category by Decree 105/2016, issued by the Regional Government of Madrid on 8 November 2016. Its church has a Latin cross plan: a three-part nave meets the transept, and there is also a large choir loft. Once construction was complete, the community moved into the new monastery on 19 May 1616. The move was accompanied by grand celebrations and a solemn Mass.

The parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción also has a historic-artistic designation: it was declared a historic-artistic monument in 1981. The frescoes in the central nave were painted by the Madrid artist Van Der Pere. The churches therefore offer different points of interest, from the layout of a monastery to the design of a church nave.

The Ermita del Santísimo Cristo de la Salud brings together two historical periods. It was originally built in the 17th century as a wayside chapel on the former Camino Real to Toledo; the present building dates from the 18th century and is Baroque. The altarpiece is also Baroque, with Solomonic columns, acanthus leaves and grape motifs. Its construction period, former function and furnishings can therefore be considered separately.

The Fuente de la Villa was built in 1605 by the Valdemoro council using stone from Colmenar de Oreja. Another local landmark is the municipal washhouse, built with exposed brick and masonry infill. Together with the churches and the ermita, the fountain and washhouse offer a broader look at different forms of local architecture.

Circular Routes and Natural Areas

Four signposted nature routes in Valdemoro are circular: Bolitas del Airón, Canteras de Yeso, Entrecerros and Cerro de la Mira. They can be completed on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. This means there is more than one way to explore them; the published distances and difficulty levels provide additional guidance when comparing specific routes.

The Canteras de Yeso route is 8.29 kilometres long and classified as easy. Bolitas del Airón covers 12.19 kilometres and is also considered an easy circular route. At 15.60 kilometres, Entrecerros is longer and has a moderate difficulty level. When choosing between these three routes, you can therefore take both distance and the stated difficulty into account.

The 44-hectare Bolitas del Airón natural area is home to the region's most important reserve of the paradise tree Elaeagnus angustifolia. It also has a circular route more than 3,200 metres long for walking, jogging and cycling. It consists of a loop and several connecting paths. This route provides another point of reference for planning activities in the natural area; it should be distinguished from the four signposted nature routes, which are named circular routes.

Visitors to Bolitas del Airón can use a car park with space for 200 vehicles. As operating conditions may change, it is advisable to check the current parking situation shortly before your visit. The San Marcos festival in Bolitas del Airón nature park was announced for 25 April. Its tradition, associated with agricultural communities, dates back to the 17th century; the festival includes public recreational and entertainment activities. The specific programme may vary from year to year.

For planning your trip, the options offer a clear contrast: the buildings provide insights into architecture, art and different historical periods, while the nature routes offer choices based on mode of travel, distance and, in some cases, stated difficulty. This makes it possible to choose a hotel in Valdemoro according to the main focus of your stay, without having to combine cultural and nature activities into a fixed itinerary.
