Along with San Marcos, Redonda is the other entirely rural parish of Corcubión. From the Iglesia de San Pedro de Redonda, a 10- to 15-minute walk leads to Cabo da Nasa. The route combines ecclesiastical architectural history with coastal views, making both highlights easy to include in a stay.
Church and cultural heritage
The Iglesia de San Pedro de Redonda was built in the late 12th and early 13th centuries. It has a single-nave main body and a single-nave chapel, both with rectangular floor plans. In the atrium stands a granite cruceiro of the crucifix type. Its base bears the inscription “ES E LO HISO / IVº DE MN POR / SV DVON ANO / DE 1689”. The inscription therefore gives a specific year, which should not be equated with the church’s construction period.
Redonda’s industrial heritage is also tied to a specific location: the Fábrica de salazón de Boca do Sapo is in Boca de Sapo, within the parish of Redonda, and dates from the late 19th century. The tourist listing describes its condition as very poor and notes that it is no longer in use.
Redonda has numerous hórreos and examples of traditional vernacular architecture. The Castro de Quenxe is listed in Quenxe, within the parish of Redonda (San Pedro). The Castro de Redonda is listed in Redonda, in the parish of San Pedro de Redonda, as a site of archaeological interest. Together, these references show that the parish’s cultural character extends beyond the church to include traditional building forms and archaeological sites.
Cabo da Nasa and local routes
The blue bench of Corcubión stands at Cabo da Nasa in the parish of San Pedro de Redonda. From there, the view extends over Cabo Fisterra, the coast of Redonda, Isla Lobeira and Monte Pindo. Cabo da Nasa is where the bench is located; Cabo Fisterra is one of the visible landmarks. The names therefore refer to the viewpoint and a point in its field of view, not to the same place.
A local route reaches Redonda after 5.8 km and the Iglesia de San Pedro de Redonda after 6.2 km. Along this route, the church comes 0.4 km after the point named Redonda. These distances are a different form of guidance from the 10- to 15-minute walk from the church to the cape. This lets you consider a route segment measured in kilometres and the short walk to the viewpoint as separate planning questions.
Getting to the Iglesia de San Pedro de Redonda
From Corcubión, take the road towards Fisterra to reach the Iglesia de San Pedro de Redonda. At Campo de San Roque, turn left towards Redonda. This describes the road approach to the church; the distances refer to the local route, and the walking time refers to the path between the church and the cape. If you are considering Redonda as a destination, these different details help you plan the road approach, route and walk to the coastal viewpoint separately.
