Les Pobles brings together vineyards in the surrounding area, a Cava producer in the village and a history connected with Santes Creus. There are also festivals held at clearly specified times of the year. When looking for a holiday apartment, you can first consider whether you would prefer to plan your trip around the landscape and wine culture, local history or a particular festival date.

Location and Wine Country

A regional road connects Les Pobles with Santes Creus and Pontons. The Bruell stream, a tributary of the Gaià, runs through the village; some spots offer views across the Camp de Tarragona. The surrounding area is planted predominantly with high-quality grapevines. These local features relate to different geographical areas: the stream and views are associated with Les Pobles, while the vines mainly define the surrounding area.

History and Cava

Les Pobles grew up around old farmsteads that belonged to the lands of Santes Creus Monastery. According to an old tradition, Cistercian monks introduced grapevines to Les Pobles. The settlement’s history and the traditional account of its winemaking history are therefore distinct historical connections.

Caves Vidal i Ferré is located in the small village of Les Pobles. Cava is made by hand in the small family-run cellars using Macabeu, Xarel·lo and Parellada grapes. This highlights two aspects of the local wine profile: grapevines shape the surrounding area, while a Cava producer is based in the village.

A riding route also passes near the village: on the return journey, it goes below Les Pobles and back to Santes Creus. The regional road and the riding route have different connections with Santes Creus: the road links Les Pobles with Santes Creus and Pontons, while the riding route describes the return journey below the village to Santes Creus. For orientation, this is the difference between a connection to two places and a return route to one of them.

Church and Festivals Throughout the Year

The village church is dedicated to Santa Maria and was built in 1920. Its year of construction provides a specific point of reference in local history.

The Festa Major del Roser takes place on the second weekend in May. Winter Festa Major events are held around Santa Llúcia on 13 December in Aiguamúrcia, Les Pobles and Santes Creus. On the evening of 5 January, the Cavalcada de Reis visits Les Pobles and distributes gifts. The dates vary according to season and occasion: a festival weekend in May, winter events in December and the Cavalcada in early January.
