La Pobleta de Bellveí’s historic village character can be combined with trails and nature in the surrounding area. The parish church of Sant Feliu brings together several architectural features; a route to Estany de Moncortès also starts from Pobleta de Bellvehí, and old livestock trails can be explored from here.

Village History and Architectural Styles

The present-day village of Pobleta de Bellvehí was founded between the 13th and 14th centuries, replacing the older village of Bellveí. At the beginning of the 15th century, a new church dedicated to Saint Feliu was built in the village centre. The parish church of Sant Feliu has a distinctive flat roof and a semicircular apse inspired by Romanesque forms. Its simple, austere bell tower has a square lower section and an octagonal upper section. The village’s character is also shaped by paved streets and stone houses with wooden windows.

Another architectural landmark is the building La Mola, which houses a grain mill and a small hydroelectric plant. Musical heritage is also associated with Pobleta de Bellvehí: the Escola Folk del Pirineu lists “Ball pla de la Pobleta” as a piece for the village. Together with the features of the parish church, this offers a glimpse of different aspects of local cultural life.

The Fira Ramadera Through the Year

The Fira Ramadera de la Pobleta de Bellveí takes place every year on the first weekend of October. The event showcases several cattle breeds, Xisqueta sheep and horses. The programme also includes demonstrations of traditional crafts associated with livestock farming and rural life. Arts and crafts are sold, and an organic meat tasting is part of the Fira.

The weekend thus brings together animal exhibitions, crafts and a tasting at a set time in the annual calendar.

Trails and Places to Visit Nearby

A route of scenic and ecological interest to Estany de Moncortès starts from Pobleta de Bellvehí; old livestock trails can also be explored from here. The Camí de la Pobleta de Bellveí a Estavill is listed as 4.4 kilometres long, with a walking time of 1 hour 10 minutes. Pobleta de Bellvehí lies on the Flamisell and is considered a starting point for exploring the Vall Fosca.

Nearby is Lake Montcortès, considered an important waterbird reserve in the Pyrenees. Hiking trails and horse-riding routes start at the lake. A few kilometres from Pobleta de Bellvehí is also the Dolmen d’Envall, a megalithic monument dating from the Bronze Age. When planning, you can therefore take account of the trails, the lake and a nearby archaeological monument as distinct points of interest in the region.
