Beach and Access

The coast is the defining feature of El Mas Pinell. Mas Pinell Beach lies on the right bank of the Ter River, naturally continues La Pletera Beach and stretches as far as the boundary with Pals Beach. Its location can be viewed from two perspectives: the bank of the Ter and the succession of beaches from La Pletera to the boundary with Pals. The beach is accessible on foot or by car. The main access route is the road between Torroella de MontgrĂ and Palafrugell; a turnoff leads to the Mas Pinell development. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, you can consider the coastal setting and the route there as two separate selection criteria.

Activities at the Beach

Mas Pinell Beach has an area for surfing and a water sports equipment rental service. Check before your trip whether the rental service is operating during your stay. Horse riding is possible on the dunes behind the beach. The beach and dunes provide distinct settings for these activities: surfing and water sports equipment are associated with the beach, while horse riding takes place on the dunes behind it. This helps you distinguish between activities on the water and on the dunes when planning.

Coastal Route and Landscape

The coastal route from Pals to Torroella de Montgrí passes near the centre of Mas Pinell, by Bassa de l’Anser. One section runs through the coastal dunes from La Fonollera to Gola del Ter. Bassa de l’Anser marks the location in relation to the village centre, while Gola del Ter marks the endpoint of the described section through the dunes. This distinction helps you choose the focus of your route: proximity to the village centre on the one hand, and the coastal landscape with its dunes on the other. These landmarks complement the place names Pals and Torroella with specific points of reference along the route.

Natural Park and Dunes

The 2016 management report for the Natural Park classifies the dunes on the beaches of the bays of l’Estartit and Pals as a particularly sensitive, priority habitat. Management also includes regulating access for public use.

Seasonal Information

The municipal seasonal notice for 2026 included lifeguard service at Mas Pinell Beach in July and August. For later summers, check the information applicable at the time about the service. At the far end of the beach, near Carrer Cuereta, a solar-powered emergency intercom was reported as operational in July 2025. As the condition of infrastructure can change, it is advisable to check its current status before visiting. The information refers to different periods: the lifeguard service is covered by the seasonal notice for 2026, while the reported operational status of the intercom refers to July 2025.
