Pardines can be explored from several different perspectives: its landscape ranges from a small high-altitude pond to viewpoints overlooking valleys and peaks, while Romanesque buildings offer another glimpse into the area’s past. When planning your visit, it helps to distinguish between these highlights. The hiking routes described are not all the same: one offers views of several valleys, another looks out over Pardines and its hamlets, and the “Pujada al Taga” leads to a mountain summit. There is also an autumn event featuring beer tastings.

Nature between pond and natural park

Estany del Tarter is a small pond in the municipality of Pardines. It lies at an altitude of 1,595 metres on the northern slope of Serra Cavallera. It covers approximately 1,250 square metres; the associated wetland covers a total of 0.19 hectares. These figures refer to different areas: the pond and the entire associated wetland. Pardines is also located in Parc Natural de les Capçaleres del Ter i del Freser. This places a specific natural feature alongside the broader setting within the natural park.

Hiking with different views

The official route “13. De coll de Meianell a Puig Cerverís” starts on the border between Pardines and Vilallonga de Ter. Its viewpoint opens up views of Vall de Ribes, Vall de Camprodon and the mountain landscape around the upper reaches of the Ter and Freser rivers. The described panorama therefore takes in several valleys and the mountain scenery around the upper reaches of these rivers.

The “Pujada al Taga” offers a different focus: it starts at Santa Magdalena de Puigsac and climbs almost 900 metres to a distinctive summit and viewpoint in Ripollès. The elevation gain provides a specific indication of the route’s difficulty. By contrast, the “Ruta pels veïnats de Pardines sota l’ombra de Serra Cavallera” focuses on Pardines, its hamlets and much of Vall de Ribes. This makes it possible to distinguish between a summit destination and views of the village and its settlements.

Romanesque buildings in Pardines and Puigsac

The Ermita de Santa Magdalena de Pardines, also known as Ermita de Puigsac, dates from the 12th century. It is located in the hamlet of Puigsac, two kilometres from Pardines. Its two names preserve its connection to Pardines and to the hamlet; its date makes it a clearly identifiable historic landmark.

Sant Esteve de Pardines preserves the central apse of a former three-aisled Romanesque church. “Three-aisled” describes the former structure; its central apse is what remains. Above it, a medieval defensive tower now serves as the church’s bell tower and clock tower. The building’s features thus make it possible to distinguish between the church’s former layout and the tower’s present-day function.

An autumn event

For several years, the “Fira de la Cervesa Artesana i del Rebost de Pardines” has been held in the municipality in autumn. It offers beer tastings and suggested pairings. If you would like to plan your trip around the Fira, check the date for your chosen autumn in advance.
