In Teià, Roman winemaking history, an extensive collection of drawings and objects, the church of Sant Martí and hiking trails in the surrounding area come together. When deciding whether Teià is the right place to stay for your travel plans, fixed visiting conditions and seasonal dates are also important: a guided tour of Vallmora requires advance booking, and the Festa Major takes place around 11 November.

Roman winemaking in Vallmora

The Celler romà i Centre Enoturístic i Arqueològic de Vallmora is a cultural institution in Teià that includes an archaeological site from the Roman era. The Roman winery at Vallmora was a wine production centre in Roman Laietania; it was active from the 1st century BC to the 5th century AD. At Vallmora, the archaeological site and the long history of winemaking are therefore brought together.

The visitor programme includes a guided tour at 11 am, with a glass of DO Alella wine. Advance booking is essential. Check visiting times before your visit and book in good time, as programme details may change.

Art collection and church architecture

The Fons Batllori Jofré comprises more than 2,000 objects and drawings, spread across three areas: a faithfully preserved studio, an archive with around 1,500 original works and a permanent exhibition. This arrangement reveals different aspects of the collection—from the preserved workspace and the originals in the archive to the exhibition.

The permanent exhibition at Ca la Cecília opened on 11 September 2007. It presents an illustrated biography of the cartoonist Antoni Batllori Jofré (1915–1999) and key stages of his career: his beginnings, Junceda’s influence, the Spanish Civil War, his flourishing period and his relationship with Teià. Groups can request a guided tour with commentary; if a temporary exhibition is running, it may be included.

At the church of Sant Martí, a portal of dressed Montjuïc stone frames a triangular pediment depicting Saint Martin on horseback. The architecture also includes a large Neo-Gothic window, created during the 1902 renovation.

Hiking trails and nature

The SL-C 111 Ruta del Vedat is an easy circular trail that starts in Teià. It passes through quarries, by springs, and through cultivated land and granite formations, exploring the area around the municipality.

Teià is one of the municipalities in Parc de la Serralada Litoral, whose protected administrative area covers 4,042 hectares. Another specific route option leads from the Coll de Clau car park along the GR 92 to the hermitage of Sant Mateu, 2.3 kilometres away. Check current route and access conditions before setting out.

Festa Major and Relleno

Around 11 November, Teià celebrates the Festa Major de Sant Martí. The programme includes correfocs and drum parades, a gathering of giant figures, the Cercatasques, competitions and tastings of Relleno, as well as exhibitions, music and theatre. If the festival dates are important to your travel plans, check the current event schedule in advance.

Relleno is a slow-cooked dish made from apples stuffed with meat and other ingredients. The festival features a competition and a tasting. The dish is therefore not only part of the festival programme, but also a tangible part of the local festive tradition.

Connections and travel planning

The C-15 municipal bus route connects Teià town centre with the centre of El Masnou and Ocata station. Check the current timetable when planning a journey, as service details may change. Together with the booking requirement for Vallmora and the date of the Festa Major, these details are useful planning anchors: you can weigh up the cultural programme, festival visit and hikes in light of your travel dates.
