Mirabueno offers two different hiking options to consider when planning your trip: the 11-kilometre PR-GU 08 circular trail and its position between two stages of the Camino de la Lana. There is also a viewpoint on the circular trail, sights in the village and seasonal dates for cultural visits. This lets you decide in advance whether to focus your stay on a circular hike, a pilgrimage stage or a local event.

Circular trail and Camino stages

The PR-GU 08 is an 11-kilometre circular trail. It connects Mirabueno, Aragosa and Mandayona via paths and forest tracks. Its length and circular route provide a clear framework for planning your hike; the trail passes through three named villages.

On the Camino de la Lana, Mirabueno is both the endpoint of Stage 23, Cifuentes–Mirabueno, and the starting point of Stage 24, Mirabueno–Huérmeces del Cerro. The circular trail and the sequence of stages offer different ways to plan: the PR-GU 08 is a circular hike with a stated distance, while the stage names place Mirabueno in the context of the Camino de la Lana.

The Mirador de Las Peñas, a named viewpoint in Mirabueno, is located on the PR-GU 08. This gives the hike a specific point of interest. The new El Carrasquillo viewpoint is also a sight in Mirabueno.

Natural surroundings and sights

The Barranco del RĂo Dulce Natural Park includes the municipality of Mirabueno. These details refer to different spatial levels: the park information concerns the municipality, while the PR-GU 08 is a single route. This distinguishes the broader setting of the village from the details of a hike.

The Iglesia de la Virgen de Mirabueno is also one of the sights in the village. Together with the El Carrasquillo viewpoint and the Mirador de Las Peñas, it gives visitors several named places to visit. When planning, you can consider the circular trail and the sights in the village as different areas of focus.

Cultural events throughout the year

The traditional celebration in honour of the Virgen de Mirabueno is recognised as an event of provincial tourist interest and usually takes place in May. Numerous villages come together for the event, with participants carrying processional crosses and banners. A mass in honour of the Virgen de Mirabueno follows. May is therefore a useful date to bear in mind if you are interested in this celebration.

In August, the AsociaciĂłn de Amigos de Mirabueno organises a Semana Cultural. The celebration in honour of the Virgen and the Semana Cultural offer different occasions to choose when to travel.
