For a stay in La Guancha, you can choose different focuses: coastal scenery and views, local history and crafts, or regional produce and outdoor routes. When looking for a hotel, you can first decide which of these interests you want to shape your days; the local destinations and activities offer specific guidance.

Coast, views and outdoor relaxation

Charco del Viento is a small natural cove formed by two lava flows. Its waters are sheltered from the area's strong swell. You can snorkel in the calm, crystal-clear waters, and fishing is another activity at Charco del Viento. The spot thus combines a striking volcanic formation with two different ways to enjoy the water.

The Mirador El Topete offers a different perspective, with views of Mount Teide and northern Tenerife. If you want to include a viewpoint as well as the coast, it provides a clear contrast to Charco del Viento. The Parque Recreativo El Pinalete, a family recreation area with barbecue spots, tables and benches, and drinking water, is also located in the pine forest of La Guancha. The park therefore offers a different focus from the viewpoint: it combines a woodland visit with practical facilities for an outdoor break.

Local history and Canarian crafts

La Guancha's town centre has a network of narrow, old streets. Some are paved, including El Sol, Juan Luis Reyes, Nueva and El Calvario. Two distinctive buildings are also part of the town's historic character: the Iglesia Dulce Nombre de Jesús has origins dating back to 1579. The Centro Cultural Unión y Fraternidad, also known as the “Casino de La Guancha”, has a façade with typical Canarian balconies and hosts cultural and entertainment events throughout the year.

A range of crafts are made and displayed at the Centro de Artesanía, including pottery, raffia work, basketry, drawn-thread embroidery, weaving and embroidery. Traditional, everyday and carnival clothing is also made and displayed there. The centre is open to the public. Opening hours are 09:00 to 13:00 and 16:00 to 19:00; check the hours in advance if you are planning your visit around them.

Produce and wine

The Mercado del Agricultor offers produce grown in La Guancha. This includes Papa bonita potatoes, bananas, peaches, grapes, papayas, corn and garden vegetables. Visitors from other municipalities also come to the market at weekends. Another place to explore regional products is the Consejo Regulador Ycoden Daute Isora, which has tasting rooms and regularly organises wine-industry events and courses. While the market brings together a range of local produce, the Consejo focuses on wine-tasting rooms and wine-related events.

Cycling routes and bus connections

Four cycling routes start from Casa de la Pradera. One circular route goes from Casa de la Pradera via Icod el Alto and back to Casa de la Pradera, offering the chance to discover the areas known as Fuente de el Barco and Los Campeches. This gives you a choice of cycling routes as well as a specifically named loop to use as a guide when planning.

Several TITSA bus routes connect La Guancha with northern Tenerife and the metropolitan area. If you are planning to use the bus for your arrival or onward journey, check the relevant connections for your travel dates. This makes it easier to match your accommodation choice to the themes you want to shape your stay: coast, local history, crafts, produce or outdoor activities.
