Izarra’s eastern part, called Barrio Nuevo or La Estación, came into being during the industrial boom of the 19th century. The station building in Izarra dates from 1863; the San José Church in Barrio Nuevo dates from 1948. For a historical perspective, it is worth distinguishing the development of the district in the 19th century from the specific dates of the two buildings.

Izarra’s main festivities are celebrated from 30 September to 3 October in honour of Our Lady of the Rosary. If you want to plan your trip around this period, check the dates for the relevant year again.
