Cala Llonga opens out at the end of a 700-metre-long inlet that runs between high, rugged cliffs. If you are looking for accommodation here, you can plan your stay around whether beach time, a coastal route, summer boat services or local festive culture is your main focus.
Beach and waterside amenities
The beach is about 200 metres long and 100 metres wide, with fine sand. The water at the beach is clean and shallow, making it suitable for children; a playground is right next to it. This makes it easy to plan swimming and playtime in one place. The playground and beach facilities may change over time, so check their current condition before your visit.
The beach has sun loungers and parasols for hire, a lifeguard, an accessible access ramp and an assisted bathing service with an amphibious wheelchair. These beach services may be seasonal. If you are planning to use a particular service, check what will be available during your travel dates. Water sports listed at the beach include dinghy sailing, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding.
Coastal paths and excursions
A coastal path starts in Cala Llonga, heads north along the shore and offers views of the Mediterranean. A coastal route on Ibiza’s east coast is described as easy and is listed as approximately five kilometres long, with a duration of two hours. The distance and duration provide a guide for planning your time; trail conditions may change and should be checked before setting out. The municipal trail map for Cala Llonga de Dalt shows 22 paths.
In summer, boats run from the small pier near Cala Llonga to Santa Eulària, Es Canar and Ibiza Town. If you are planning to visit one of these destinations by boat, check the timetable in advance: routes and operators may change.
Heritage and patron saint festivities
About two kilometres from Cala Llonga lies La Font des Ierns, a traditional hydraulic heritage site. It includes a spring, a waterwheel, stone water channels and a small aqueduct. Access has been improved through municipal measures. The site offers a cultural highlight alongside the beach and coastal paths.
A coastal route starting in Cala Llonga leads to Cap des Llibrell. There you will find an ancient Phoenician settlement associated with Ibiza’s history more than 2,500 years ago.
The main day of Cala Llonga’s patron saint festivities is 15 August. The celebrations honour Virgen de la Asunción, the patron saint of the town; details of the annual programme may vary. If you would like to time your trip to coincide with the festivities, check the exact dates in advance. In 2024, a traditional mass was held at 18:30 as part of the celebrations at the Capilla de la Assumpció de Cala Llonga. The 2024 patron saint festivities also included a parade of floats and a traditional payés dance.
