Navia brings together a beach, a coastal trail along cliffs, urban green spaces and a year-round cultural programme. When choosing your accommodation, it helps to decide what you want your days to focus on: beach and water, a route through the town, or views, parks and culture? The differences below offer some concrete pointers to help you decide.

Beach and water

Playa de Navia is approximately 360 metres long and can be reached from the town via Avenida del Pardo. Check local conditions before your visit. Right next to the beach is La Poza, a body of water that serves as a bathing area for children and a resting place for thousands of birds. Their proximity is useful for orientation: the bathing area and bird resting place mark different functions right next to each other.

Coastal trail and circular route

The Senda Costa Naviega is approximately 19 kilometres long and runs along cliffs. Check local access conditions before setting off. The Paseo de los 10.000 Pasos offers a different perspective: it is a circular route through Navia that starts and ends at the Complejo Deportivo Municipal de la Granja. You can then choose whether the coastal route or a circuit through Navia appeals to you more.

Parks and views

Parque Doña Isidora is in the higher part of Navia, to the south, and offers panoramic views of Navia and the municipality of Coaña. Parque de los Patos is a green space in the direction of Playa de Navia, with the Río Olga running through it; a traditional Asturian hórreo is also located there. Near the mouth of the Río Navia, Parque El Fornel offers children places to relax and play. The parks each have a distinct focus: views of Navia and Coaña, a green space with a river and hórreo, and play and relaxation for children.

Culture and events

Courses, workshops, debates and exhibitions take place at Espacio Cultural El Liceo throughout the year. Its programme combines learning and workshop formats with discussions and exhibitions, adding a cultural focus to the trails and green spaces. The Descenso a Nado de la RĂa de Navia is a festival of national tourist interest; its history in the town dates back to the late 1950s. If you would like to plan your trip around this event, check the specific dates in advance.

Getting there and choosing accommodation

Navia can be reached via the A-8 motorway and the N-634 and AS-12 roads. If travelling by road, check for possible roadworks before your journey. The regular ALSA Oviedo/Gijón–Ribadeo service stops in Navia in both directions. If you plan to use this service, check the timetable in advance, as schedules and service patterns may change. When looking for hotels in Navia, you can first decide whether the beach and coastal trail, the circular route through town, the parks or the cultural programme will shape your stay. For a specific property, then check whether its location suits your plans.
