The soft sand at Playa Las Chapas (Elviria) is ideal for walking barefoot. The beach is easy to reach on foot or by car. If you are planning days at the beach, this is a practical consideration when choosing accommodation in Elviria. Access conditions may change, so check them before your visit. Golf, an adventure park, art and historic architecture offer a range of other options.
Golf: two different course formats
Greenlife Golf in Elviria Hills is a 9-hole par-3 course measuring 1,142 metres. Water comes into play on holes 1, 2, 5 and 9, while lush vegetation with palm and oak trees shapes the course. Santa Maria Golf & Country Club, by contrast, offers an 18-hole course with views of the Mediterranean. The difference can first be seen in the format: Greenlife combines nine par-3 holes with the water hazards described above, while Santa Maria pairs a greater number of holes with Mediterranean views. The club welcomes members and visitors to its facilities. As visitor policies may change, check in advance if you would like to play there.
Adventure courses at Aventura Amazonia
Aventura Amazonia is an adventure park in Elviria featuring zip lines and suspension bridges. It offers 103 challenges and 24 zip lines across six adventure courses: MiniKids, Kids, Explorer, Jungle, Adventure and Sports. There are also three beginner courses. An admission ticket allows you to use the multi-adventure courses for three hours; you can plan for this as a separate activity block in your itinerary. Course configurations and ticket conditions may change, so check both before your visit. The park is located at C/ Valeriano RodrĂguez 2, 29603 Elviria – Marbella.
Art, architecture and history
At the entrance to Elviria stands Girouette, an ensemble of steel sculptures about 12 metres high by Phillippe Hiquily (1925–2013). Created in 1963, the work consists of three moving parts. Torre Lance de las Cañas was built in the second half of the 18th century and emerged from the development of watchtowers and the coastal defence system. It is the only tower of its kind in Marbella; its ground plan resembles a horse’s hoof. The clubhouse at Santa Maria Golf & Country Club adds another architectural feature: it is an impressive 19th-century cortijo with distinctive Andalusian architecture, surrounded by extensive gardens.
Eco-market in Pinar de Elviria
The Mercadillo EcolĂłgico in Pinar de Elviria is a travelling eco-market run by the AsociaciĂłn Guadalhorce EcolĂłgico. It offers certified organic products as well as fresh-harvested local and seasonal produce. The selection may vary from one market day to the next, and the market schedule may change. So check the specific market day before planning a visit. The selection also depends on when you go.
