Sun City combines a winding maze, scenic tours and water sports. The differences help you get a sense of what a stay there is like: the Maze features winding paths and a suspension bridge, Segway and mountain bike tours offer something different, while Waterworld has activities on the water. The adjacent Pilanesberg National Park also offers opportunities for wildlife viewing.
Maze and bridges
The Maze of the Lost City welcomes adventurers of all ages and covers 0.5 acres. Its winding layout is described by the operator as the largest permanent maze in the Southern Hemisphere. Children under 12 must be supervised by adults both on the bridge and in the maze. This requirement applies to both areas during a visit.
The 100-metre-long suspension bridge leads to the Maze and offers views of the resort, including The Palace of the Lost City and the Gary Player Golf Course. A different experience awaits at the Bridge of Time in the Valley of Waves: an hourly theatrical production features vibrations, rumbling volcanic sounds and smoke. Check before your visit whether the production is currently taking place. The scenic walkway and the regularly scheduled show element are therefore quite distinct.
Segway tours and cycling
Segway tours have different destinations. One guided tour runs around the Gary Player Country Club; another heads towards the 13th hole of The Lost City Golf Course and offers scenic views. Participants may see Nile crocodiles up close along the way, but a sighting is not guaranteed. For cycling, there is a 9.7-kilometre mountain biking trail through a private wildlife park in Sun City Resort. This wildlife park borders Pilanesberg National Park.
Water activities
Sun City Waterworld offers tandem parasailing and waterskiing lessons with instructor support. The tube rides can accommodate four people at a time; the Water Snake can carry five. Family boats for trips on the lake are also available. For groups, the difference in capacity between the tube rides and the Water Snake is a practical consideration when choosing. Capacities are subject to the operator’s terms. Also confirm the current availability of activities with the operator.
The resort and its surroundings
Regionally, Sun City Resort is located in North West Province and is home to the Gary Player Country Club and The Lost City Golf Course. Pilanesberg National Park lies next to the resort and offers opportunities for wildlife viewing, self-drive tours and guided safaris. The resort’s golf courses can thus be contrasted with the safari and wildlife viewing opportunities in the neighbouring national park. The mountain biking trail, meanwhile, runs through the private wildlife park within the resort.
