A Neoclassical church with an organ, a manor house park with paths leading to ponds and sculptures, and a nine-hole disc golf course measuring 620 metres in total give Jaslovské Bohunice a distinctive character. Culture, green spaces and outdoor activities are clearly identifiable themes here.

Church and manor house: distinct architectural histories

The Roman Catholic Church of St Michael the Archangel was built in the Neoclassical style between 1832 and 1836. Inside the church is a wooden Neoclassical-style organ dating from 1841; its keyboard is made to the Mozart type. The date and architecture describe the church building, while the organ’s material and keyboard type give it a distinct historical profile.

The manor house was originally a late Baroque building dating from the end of the 18th century. At the end of the 19th century, it was extended and remodelled in the style of Historicism with Romantic and Neo-Romanesque influences. Its architectural history thus spans a late Baroque origin followed by a later extension and redesign. This is a different timeline from that of the Neoclassical Church of St Michael.

Park, cycling routes and nature

In the English-style park by the manor house, paths lead to ponds, fountains and sculptures. Rare woody plants, old trees and flower beds add to the park’s design. The character of the English-style park is shaped not only by its destinations along the paths, but also by its varied plants and garden features.

The disc golf course is located in the park by the manor house and is free for the general public to use. Its nine holes measure 620 metres in total. The course is therefore described both by its location in the park and by a stated overall length.

Jaslovské Bohunice also has three sections of cycling routes, with a total length of 1.5 kilometres. The municipality offers tips for cycling trips away from busy roads. These include field tracks with gravel and dusty surfaces, as well as lightly trafficked paved roads within the municipalities. The cycling route sections are thus specified by their total length, while the trip tips offer additional guidance on surfaces and road conditions.

The educational trail in Jaslovské Bohunice has five information boards. Another connection with nature can be found in the cadastral areas of Bohunice, Jaslovce and Paderovce: they are part of a protected bird area established to preserve the Saker Falcon’s habitats and ensure the conditions it needs to survive and reproduce.

Play, sports and other activities

The fenced Lienka children’s playground in Jaslovské Bohunice is for young children to play in and features modern play equipment and climbing structures. It also includes wooden figures of the fairy-tale characters Dlhý, Široký and Bystrozraký. The ŠK Blava sports complex has a different focus: it includes a floodlit artificial turf pitch, as well as a tennis hall and a badminton hall.

The AXA Equestrian Club was founded in 2000 and is located in the Areál PD in Jaslovské Bohunice. An older regional travel guide mentions recreational riding alongside the training of show-jumping horses. For less experienced riders, it describes riding in a sand arena under the guidance of an instructor.

The Mlyn shooting range in Bohunice is also described in this older travel guide. According to the guide, it has shooting stands for skeet, trap, automatic trap and universal trap. Visitors can shoot there under the supervision of an experienced instructor if they contact the manager in advance. Check the current operating conditions for the riding and shooting activities before making plans. On the grounds of the shooting range, a fragment of the Pavlovič mill stands as the last reminder of the former glory of the mills there.
