Trebatice lies on a terrace of the Dudváh, where the northern foothills of the Trnava Hills meet the Váh foothills of the Danubian Lowland. Its geographical location places the village in two distinct landscape areas. Trebatice offers visitors several different points of interest: archaeological traces and religious buildings sit alongside sports, go-karting and festivals. If you are looking for accommodation in Trebatice, you can decide whether to focus your stay mainly on local history, sport or an events programme. These themes highlight different aspects of the village and can be prioritised according to your interests.

Archaeological Traces and Religious Buildings

The earliest archaeological traces in Trebatice include finds from the Upper Palaeolithic, among them mammoth bones. Remains of a cult structure from the Late Bronze Age include fragments of the moulded, decorated gable of a building. These two finds offer different insights: the bones place the village’s history in a very early period, while the gable fragments identify a specific architectural detail of the cult structure. Together, they paint a picture of different types of finds from different periods.

A much later architectural landmark is the Roman Catholic Neoclassical Church of St Stephen the King, built in 1851. The main altar and pulpit date from the time of its construction and add two specific interior features to the description of the building. The cemetery chapel of St Stephen the King is also one of Trebatice’s smaller religious monuments. The church and chapel thus represent different types of religious buildings and offer further perspectives on the village’s history.

Agricultural Tradition and Kapustnica

One local trace leads back to agriculture: in 1753, residents of Trebatice were mentioned as cabbage growers, giving rise to the local nickname “kapustári.” The name links a specific crop to a dated historical memory. Another culinary connection is the microregion’s kapustnica cooking competition at Kapustové hody on 9 September 2023. This date records a particular edition of the festival, while the nickname points to an older agricultural tradition. Both give food culture a place in the village’s history, without presenting a past event date as a current reason to visit.

Sport, Go-Kart Track and Events

Areál zdravia is Trebatice’s multipurpose sports and social centre and has been in use since 2007. Another sports facility geared towards visitors is Športové centrum Trebatice, at Piešťanská 555/12, 922 10 Trebatice; online reservations are available. It is open Monday to Friday from 06:00 to 21:00 and on Saturdays and Sundays from 07:00 to 20:00. Opening hours may change, so check them and make sure to confirm your reservation before visiting.

The go-kart track was built on the site of a former brickworks, which was later used as a municipal landfill. Today, it offers go-kart rentals and hosts official kart races in the MSR, Open Cup and Moravský pohár. The site’s two former uses give it a distinctive local history. Rental availability and the racing programme may change; if you plan to go karting or attend a race, check the operator’s latest information in advance.

Hody Trebatice offers another reason to check the events calendar when planning a trip. One edition took place at AMK on 15 and 16 August 2025. The 2026 edition’s programme included traditional fairground rides, refreshment stalls and craft demonstrations alongside musical performances. Activities may differ at future editions. If you are planning your stay around Hody, check the dates and programme for your visit.
