Malacky combines architectural history and collections with opportunities for outdoor activities. The Kostol Najsvätejšej Trojice church, the synagogue and the Michal Tillner Museum offer distinct cultural highlights; the 30-hectare Zámocký Park has walking paths, running trails and other sports facilities. When planning your visit, it is important to check the conditions for individual attractions: the manor house is closed in 2026, and visits to the crypts beneath the Franciscan church require registration.

Architectural history and cultural discoveries

The Kostol Najsvätejšej Trojice church is one of the oldest surviving buildings in Malacky. It was built between 1574 and 1580 in the Renaissance style. The manor house in Malacky was also originally a Renaissance building; it dates from 1624. The two buildings thus represent different periods in the town’s Renaissance history.

The synagogue in Malacky was built in the Moorish style. Preserved features include richly ornamented stucco, a bimah or Torah ark, and a niche for storing Torah scrolls. A church in Malacky also contains an exact replica of the Holy Stairs.

The Michal Tillner Museum offers a different perspective on history: its collection comprises more than 1,200 objects, mostly ethnographic. The museum also has a partially modernized exhibition on kerosene lamps and wall clocks. Visitors interested in everyday objects will find these two specific exhibition topics alongside the broader collection.

Keep visiting conditions in mind

The manor house is closed to visitors in 2026 because of partial renovation work. It is expected to reopen in spring 2027. If the manor house is one of your main destinations, take this anticipated date into account when planning your trip.

The crypts beneath the Franciscan church can be visited on weekdays by prior arrangement. For bookings by phone or email, at least one day’s notice is required; the visit takes place once confirmed. Alternatively, you can enquire about a visit at the tourist information office during opening hours. Confirm the relevant arrangements before your trip.

About forty prominent members of the Pálffy family, Franciscans, and wealthier residents of the town and its surroundings are buried in the crypts. A visit thus connects the site itself with a specific chapter in the town’s and family’s history.

Zámocký Park and a cycling route

Zámocký Park covers 30 hectares. Activities there include walking, running trails, an outdoor fitness centre and a football pitch. The park is accessible by bus and train. During your stay, you can choose between walking and sports activities in the park rather than focusing all your activities on just one thing.

For a bike ride, the Duklianskych hrdinov–Na majeri route is described in detail. It starts at the entrance to Zámocký Park, opposite Fytopharma, follows Duklianskych hrdinov Street past the hospital and continues along Rakárenská ulica. On the other side of the motorway, it reaches the Na majeri area. The park and route offer different ways to spend time outdoors: activities in the park on the one hand, and a named cycling connection on the other.

A cultural highlight in March

Malacky regularly hosts the Malacká hudobná jar music event in March. If you are planning a trip for this time of year, check the specific event dates before you travel. Along with the architectural history, museum and park activities, it offers a range of different highlights to help you plan your trip to Malacky.
