Konrádovce lies in the northern part of the Cerová Highlands, in the valley of a left-bank tributary of the Gortva. Below 514 m-high Veľký Bučoň, the settlement sits in a valley basin surrounded by 13 quarries. Bučoň Hill is covered with deciduous forest. The valley, summit, forest and basin provide several specific points of reference in the landscape; basalt quarrying is another part of the area’s history.

Hiking: Sections and Full Routes

A volunteer-created map lists three hiking trails in Konrádovce, with a total length of 4.5 km. Route details may change, so check the route before setting out. A 603 m section of the red-marked Cesta Márie Széchy 0805 is mapped in Konrádovce. The KST-maintained Husiná–Konrádovce hiking trail is 5.8 km long; its section in Konrádovce covers 2.2 km. The also KST-maintained Konrádovce–Hodejov, railway station trail is 7.4 km in total, of which 1.79 km are within the village. These figures answer different planning questions: 5.8 and 7.4 km refer to the full routes, while 2.2 and 1.79 km refer to the respective sections in Konrádovce. This lets you compare the listed trail lengths at the appropriate scale. Specifically, the 1.79 km section towards Hodejov is shorter than the 2.2 km section from Husiná.

Basalt Quarrying and Local History

A large basalt quarry opened in Konrádovce at the end of the 19th century, employing 800 workers. A memorial commemorates workers who lost their lives in the quarry. It draws attention both to the scale of the operation at the time and to the human toll.

Buildings and Traces of Earlier Settlement

A Neoclassical manor house dating from the mid-19th century stands in Konrádovce; the Secessionist Roman Catholic church dates from 1938. In the Civekfalva area are the remains of the former settlement of Šimonfalva, including its cemetery. The buildings represent two distinct historical periods, while the settlement remains direct attention to earlier habitation.

This offers a clear distinction when choosing a destination: those who prefer nature and hiking can focus on the mapped routes and landscape. Those more interested in local history can explore the basalt quarry, memorial and buildings. These preferences can also guide your search for a holiday apartment for your stay.
