Churches, folklore and connections to nature offer several different perspectives on Bátorová. Its architectural history ranges from a Baroque bell dating from 1740 to church alterations in the 20th century. Alongside these are the Agačinka folklore group and leisure activities associated with Karikáš and the Nenince water reservoir. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, these themes can help you decide whether to focus your stay in Bátorová on architectural history, local culture, or fishing and recreation.

Churches and architectural history

The bell tower is the oldest structure in Bátorová and has a Baroque bell dating from 1740. The Protestant church developed from a chapel built in 1903. The Roman Catholic church was created in 1966–1967 by converting the chapel and family crypt of the Blaškovičovci, dating from 1870. Both churches are therefore connected to predecessor buildings, but to different extents: for the Roman Catholic church, the family crypt was also part of the conversion. The dates help clarify the chronology: 1740 refers to the bell, 1870 to the chapel and family crypt, 1903 to the predecessor chapel of the Protestant church, and 1966–1967 to the conversion of the Catholic church.

Folklore and community life

The Agačinka folklore group was formed in late November 1973 in connection with the local branch of the Slovak Women’s Union. In 2023, it released its first CD, titled “Bátorovská agačinka zelená sa.” On 17 August 2024, Agačinka performed at the Hontianska paráda folklore festival in Hrušov with the programme “šúpanie kukurice” (corn husking). The group’s formation, CD and festival performance are different milestones; the performance took place in Hrušov, while the group is from Bátorová. There is also a municipal event connection beyond music: on 6 July 2026, the municipality announced that the third edition of “Bátorovská vareška” would take place on 11 July 2026 as the Municipality Day. The dates therefore cover different aspects of cultural history: the formation of a folklore group, its first CD, a performance in Hrušov, and the announcement of a Municipality Day.

Karikáš, Nenince and local orientation

The Karikáš pheasantry is located in Bátorová and is associated with opportunities for recreation and tourism. At the Nenince water reservoir, the emphasis is on fishing: a considerable part of the reservoir lies within the cadastral area of Bátorová, the water is well stocked with freshwater fish, and it serves anglers from the surrounding area. These offer two different leisure perspectives: a general connection with recreation and tourism at Karikáš, and the specific use of the reservoir by anglers. Their locations and users differ: a considerable part lies within the cadastral area of Bátorová, while the reservoir serves anglers from the surrounding area.

On 1 May 2024, a walk to the oldest oak in the municipality took place in Bátorová. This dated community outing adds a single, locally identified tree to the nature themes. A wooden information board was installed in 2023 by the bus stop in the parking lot in Bátorová.
