Brusno combines a history as a manor estate with its location within Drawski Landscape Park. You can explore the area through two questions: What does the historic estate tell us about the development of the manor, and what landscape and route connections complement this focus? The manor house, garden and agricultural buildings sit alongside named bodies of water and a tourist driving route. These features span different scales: the manor estate is a historic ensemble, the landscape park frames the area regionally, and the driving route connects it with other stops.
Manor History and the Park
Since the 18th century, the estate in Brusno has included not only a manor house but also a garden and a complex of agricultural buildings. The manor house was remodelled in 1811 or rebuilt on older foundations and vaulted cellars. Vaulted cellars are basement rooms with vaulted ceilings; together with the older foundations, they point to an earlier building fabric. These two possibilities leave the building history open: 1811 marks a change to the house, but does not provide a definitive date for the founding of the entire manor house. The park also has its own history: it was expanded in the 19th century. The house and park thus reflect different historical developments within the estate.
Two Park Settings
Brusno is located within Drawski Landscape Park. Distinct from this is the palace park, dating from the second half of the 19th century and listed under monument register number 1052. The two park settings are at different scales: the landscape park places Brusno within a wider area, while the register number applies to a specific historic park on the estate. This distinction helps separate the regional landscape setting from the history of the manor estate.
Landscape and Historic Sites
The Karsina shapes the landscape around Brusno, while the Bliska Struga contributes to it only in part. A cemetery was established north of the manor complex in the 19th century, adding another historic point of interest in the area to the history of the estate. A municipal report dated September 24, 2020, also mentions an avenue of trees designated as a natural monument in connection with a student visit.
Brusno on the Driving Route
Brusno lies on a 68-kilometre tourist driving route. The route runs from Połczyn-Zdrój via Ogartowo, Popielewo, Brusno, Kocury, Czarne Wielkie, Czaplinek, Stare Drawsko and Kłuczewo, before returning to Połczyn-Zdrój. In the order listed, Brusno comes after Popielewo and before Kocury. Check the current route and signage before setting off. A cobbled road between Ogartowo and Kocury crosses the manor complex. The driving route places Brusno within a journey through several places, while the road information locates the manor complex. The two details therefore answer different orientation questions.
