Przystan offers two distinct focal points for planning your stay: the 39.5 km Szlak Kanału Mazurskiego, which passes through Przystan, and kąpielisko Przystań in the Mamry Lake complex. For the cycling route, the trail surface and obstacles shape your choice of tour; at the swimming area, the beach and pier take centre stage.

Cycling on the Szlak Kanału Mazurskiego

The Szlak Kanału Mazurskiego is 39.5 km long and passes through Przystan. It runs mostly along unpaved roads and paths. Particularly scenic sections follow an old railway line, a path along the Masurian Canal, and a road beside Lake Rydzówka. Along the cycling route, Lake Przystań and a viewpoint are also among the sights. This makes it possible to assess the tour in terms of both distance and surface, as well as its scenic highlights. The scenic sections describe the route itself; Lake Przystań and the viewpoint, by contrast, are individual sights and therefore points of interest when planning a tour along the Szlak.

There are several obstacles on the Szlak that may require cyclists to carry or push their bikes. So do not plan the route as a cycling tour that can be ridden all the way. Obstacles and trail conditions may change, so it is advisable to check the latest conditions before setting off.

Near Przystan, a hiking and cycling route runs along the Masurian Canal from Lake Mamry to the state border. It offers different reference points for choosing a tour than the Szlak: for the latter, the distance and route through Przystan are key; here, it is the stretch between Lake Mamry and the state border. This distinction is helpful if you choose a route based on its endpoints.

Swimming area in the Mamry Lake complex

Kąpielisko Przystań is part of the Mamry Lake complex. Its beach is sandy and grassy, and sailboats moor at a pier. In contrast to the cycling route, the beach and pier take centre stage here, while the Szlak’s route and obstacles shape your planning. These distinct focal points give you two concrete ways to plan your stay.

Culture in the wider Węgorzewski destination

The wider Węgorzewski destination offers further themes: historical remembrance and Masurian architecture. Cmentarz nad jez. Święcajty is a cemetery for soldiers who fell in the First World War; it contains the graves of 344 German and 234 Russian soldiers. The grounds of the Muzeum Kultury Ludowej include a small open-air museum of traditional Masurian architecture, including wooden residential buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries. The two places offer different points of interest: the history of the First World War and regional residential architecture.
