Kobylocha lies partly on the middle, largest section of Lake Sasek Wielki; a kayak route on the Sawica passes by the village. The lake is a ribbon lake and lies entirely within a quiet zone. For navigating the water, the village’s location and the other shoreline and route details are different reference points.

On Lake Sasek Wielki: Village and Landscape

Kobylocha lies partly on the middle, largest section of the lake, along with Trelkówko, Linowo and Łysa Góra. Piece and Kobylocha lie on the eastern side of the southern basin. These are two different reference points for orientation: the central section of the lake and its southern basin.

Near Kobylocha, the southern basin of Lake Sasek Wielki covers 180 hectares and is surrounded by forests on both sides. The lakebed has numerous deep spots. Submerged plants such as pondweed and hornwort form underwater meadows. Near the southwestern shore is a 0.4-hectare marshy island covered with alder trees.

At the end of the lake is a marshy canal inlet leading to the smallest, northern section of the lake. The Saska flows out of the lake at its beginning, near National Road 53 between Szczytno and Pasym. Both features add specific landmarks on the water and river to the shoreline landscape.

Kayak and Cycling Routes Nearby

The kayak route on the Sawica starts at the northern end of Lake Sasek Wielki and heads south; it also passes Kobylocha. The Ośrodek Wypoczynkowy “Łoś” recreation centre is located in the settlement.

A 36.5-kilometre kayak route along the Saska and Sawica rivers passes through Lake Sasek Wielki, Jęcznik, Janowo, Sędańsk, Lake Sędańskie, Lake Sasek Mały, Kucbork and Wiebark. Its length and the places listed provide a concrete basis for working this route into your plans. Check local conditions before setting out.

As another point of reference, a cycling route runs from Piece via Szczycionek and Kobylocha to Linowo. A route description from 2016 recounts that the forest to the right of the kayak route, as it passes Kobylocha, is home to a colony of herons and cormorants. Grey herons may also be seen hunting seasonally among the reed beds around this part of the lake; such sightings are not guaranteed.
