Polom combines historic groups of buildings with a distinctive forest and water landscape. The Łaźna Struga flows through the area, while woodland surrounds Polom on almost three sides. There are also small lakes that are increasingly overgrown with forest and marsh vegetation. Kayaking on the Łaźna Struga is another part of the area's story: Polom is one stage of the route. The area's building history, landscape and waterways offer different ways to discover the place.

Manor history and historic buildings

The manor and park complex comprises two brick stables, a brick granary, a wooden barn and the remains of the park. The buildings date from the late 19th or early 20th century. The complex therefore includes several types of buildings and park remains, rather than just a single structure. An Evangelical cemetery dating from the 19th century lies right next to the former manor buildings. Another Evangelical cemetery from the same century is also located in Polom.

A former inn is also part of the area's building history: a brick inn dating from the transition between the 19th and 20th centuries stands at house number 2. It is privately owned. The Wiczno forester's lodge complex is separate from it. Built in the early 20th century, it comprises a forester's lodge and two brick outbuildings; the complex is state-owned.

Another group consists of the former state farm buildings. They are currently used by a private leaseholder. Their stone construction and tiled roofs are considered characteristic of the area. The dates of the different buildings range from the 19th century to the early 20th century. Polom therefore offers several distinct examples for anyone interested in architectural history: from stables, a granary and a barn to a former inn, a forester's lodge and farm buildings.

Forest landscape, lakes and seasonal activities

Woodland surrounds Polom on almost three sides. The small lakes are changing in a different way: they are increasingly overgrown with forest and marsh vegetation, forming floating mats of plants around them. These are two distinct points of reference: the woodland setting around the area and the vegetation developing at the lakes.

The time of year also matters when it comes to enjoying nature. The surrounding area is considered rewarding for picking wild berries and mushrooms in summer and autumn. This seasonal detail complements the landscape features described as year-round with a specific reference to the warmer and autumn months, without equating either activity with kayaking.

Waterways and orientation

The area's river connections serve different purposes. The kayak route runs along the Łaźna Struga, and Polom is one of its stages. Before the second bridge in the area, the Połomska Młynówka flows into the Łaźna Struga. This confluence marks a specific point in the area's water geography; it should be distinguished from the information about the kayak route.

There is also a precisely described route on land: a stone road connects Polom with Wronki and runs almost entirely through the forest. It adds a separate geographical point of reference to the waterways. When planning your trip, you can therefore decide whether you are most interested in the historic buildings, the forest and lake landscape, or the area's connections to the Łaźna Struga. Together, these details give a specific picture of the area without requiring a set itinerary.
