Chapel and Mining History

The Chapel of St. Barbara gives Miedziana Góra a tangible connection to its local mining history. It stands on the wooded Góra Kapliczna hill in the village; inside is an exhibition on the history of local mining. The chapel interior is closed to visitors, so the exhibition cannot be included as an indoor visit. Although the exhibition covers local mining history, the closed chapel interior means it is not an accessible visitor attraction.

The Municipality’s Cultural Heritage and Landscape

At the level of the wider municipality, there is another connection between natural and cultural heritage. The Kamienne Kręgi nature reserve protects Lower Triassic sandstone outcrops and valuable cultural heritage, including the prehistoric stone circles in the “Góra Grodowa” archaeological reserve. Geological formations and archaeological remains can be found together within the same protected area. This offers a different historical perspective from the local mining history presented in the chapel exhibition: the prehistoric stone circles are the focus of the reserve. The chapel is in the village of Miedziana Góra; Kamienne Kręgi is located within the municipality. These different perspectives help put the municipality’s culture and landscape into context.

Hiking Trails in the Municipality

For hiking, the marked red Świętokrzyskie Mountains trail passes through the municipality of Miedziana Góra and over the Tumlińskie Hills. Its route includes numerous steep climbs. If you are considering this trail, take the gradients into account when planning. The “Śladami gwarków, fryszerzy i kowali” trail also passes through the municipality, along with several Nordic walking routes. The red mountain trail is therefore the option explicitly noted for its steep climbs, while another named trail and several Nordic walking routes add to the choice.

Cycling and Winter Sports

There are also designated cycling options in the municipality: the East Cycling Trail Green Velo and a red cycling trail run through the area. Distinguish the red cycling trail from the marked red hiking trail: the similar color markings refer to two different types of route. Green Velo is named as an East Cycling Trail; the red cycling trail also passes through the municipality.

Tumlin Sport Ski adds a winter sports option to the trails. The facility has a groomed, artificially snow-covered ski slope and a platter-lift tow. Tumlin Sport Ski also has winter equipment rental and ski instructors; these services may change. Operating conditions may also vary by season. Before your trip, check current operations and the availability of rentals and ski instructors before making the facility a firm part of your plans. This helps distinguish this seasonal part of the trip from the choice of hiking and cycling trails.
