In Połomia, well-dated architectural landmarks, a registered winter linden, an indoor swimming pool and two cycling routes cater to different travel interests. The rectory, chapel and old school offer several points of reference for the area’s history, while the cycling routes can be compared by length. You can plan your cultural, nature and active pursuits around these specific local features.

Architectural history and historic sites

The old rectory on Centralna Street in Połomia is protected by law and is listed in the voivodeship’s register of historic monuments under number 741/66. Construction began on 24 April 1811.

The old school building was built in 1878 as the area’s first brick school. On the second floor is a conference room that retains its original half-timbered masonry. Half-timbering refers to a wall structure made of a timber frame and infill panels; the conference room preserves this original feature. The brick chapel of St John stands on Szkolna Street and dates from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. This brings together three distinct points in time: the chapel at the turn of the century, the start of construction on the rectory in 1811, and the school’s construction in 1878.

The cemetery beside the historic rectory contains a group of statues featuring a Cross of the Passion of Christ from 1853, a statue of a saint from 1876, and statues of the Mother of God with the Child from 1878. The dates span a period of 25 years.
