Mysłowice brings together a variety of themes for a stay: wetlands and ponds in Promenada, an extensive firefighting collection and activities on the water. There are also museums with different areas of focus, as well as walking and cycling routes. When planning your trip, you can organise cultural experiences, parkland and outdoor activities around your own interests.

Parks, Wetlands and Water Activities

Promenada stretches along the Czarna Przemsza. Its wetlands and ponds provide a habitat for waterbirds, including coots, mallards and moorhens. Park Zamkowy offers a different focus: it is a historic landscape park with protected trees designated as natural monuments, and remains of a former manor complex. Thus, water and wetlands take centre stage in Promenada, while natural monuments and traces of the former manor complex give Park Zamkowy its historic character.

At Park Słupna, the focus is on activities on the water: kayaks and pedal boats can be hired and used there. This differs from the landscape and nature themes of the other two parks. Those looking to choose between natural areas and water sports will find both as distinct options in Mysłowice.

Museums and Historical Traces

The Centralne Muzeum Pożarnictwa has more than 4,000 exhibits. These include historic firefighting equipment, fire engines, horse-drawn and hand-operated fire pumps, as well as uniforms and equipment worn by firefighters. The collection offers several tangible ways to explore firefighting history: through vehicles and firefighting equipment, as well as the personal gear worn by firefighters.

The Muzeum Miasta Mysłowice presents exhibitions on archaeology, ethnography, 20th-century history, industry and sport. Compared with the specialised firefighting collection, it therefore covers a broader range of subjects. The museum organises visits and museum lessons for preschool groups; reservations are requested. One lesson explores the Trójkąt Trzech Cesarzy as a multifaceted place and an international centre for cross-border traffic at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Another historic site is located in Park Promenada: Przewiązka is a listed building dating from 1907. It served as a passage between an emigrant station and the railway station. Its former role as a link adds to the museum themes with a building whose history is tied to a specific location.

Plan Walking and Cycling Routes

The red “Mariana Kantora-Mirskiego” walking trail runs from Janina Barbara via Giszowiec, Dolina Murckowska, Wesoła Fala in Wesoła, Morgi and Szyb Stanisława, as well as the “Słupna” outdoor swimming pool, to Mysłowice. Its sequence of stops makes the trail a distinct way to explore the area on foot.

There are also different starting points to choose from for cycling tours. The “Rowerowe szlaki Mysłowic (Koleją i Rowerem)” tour starts at Mysłowice railway station. Koleje Śląskie trains on the S31 line between Katowice and Oświęcim stop there. As train services may change, check the current timetable before travelling. Another cycling route starts in Park Słupna, by the Centralne Muzeum Pożarnictwa. These two starting points offer different approaches to planning a cycling trip; they should not be taken to mean that both are part of the same route.

Tailor Your Stay to Your Interests

The walking and cycling routes mentioned above add trails with their own starting and ending points to the range of options. This makes it easy to connect your search for a hotel in Mysłowice with the interests that matter most for your trip.
