Egiertowo can be explored through two specific themes: the junction of two named roads and the historic traces in the village. The school history, a memorial and a Protestant cemetery offer different perspectives on the past. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, you can weigh up whether these historical connections or Egiertowo’s location on the two roads matter more to you when choosing where to stay.

Getting There and Finding Your Way

Egiertowo lies at the junction of National Road 20 (Stargard Szczeciński–Szczecinek–Gdynia) and Voivodeship Road 224 (Wejherowo–Tczew). The endpoints of these routes help you place the village in context when travelling there. The bus stop listed in Egiertowo is “Egiertowo, Stacja paliw.” The road junction and the bus stop name serve different purposes for orientation: the roads place Egiertowo in its wider regional context, while the stop name points to a specific stop. If you are planning to travel by car, check the current route; if travelling by bus, refer to the operator’s latest information.

From Glassworks to School History

Egiertowo was established around 1600 on the site of former glassworks. The date of its founding is approximate; the brick building of the former school in the village centre dates from 1880. Around three centuries lie between the two dates. Until 1879, Egiertowo had no school, and children went to school in Kamela. This distinction matters to the school history: Kamela was the earlier school location, while the former brick building stands in the centre of Egiertowo. Stefan Socha founded the memorial in Egiertowo. There is also a Protestant cemetery on the road towards Nowa Karczma. The glassworks, school history, memorial and cemetery offer different perspectives on local history: early settlement, education and local remembrance.

An Oak Tree and a Building’s Transformation

A school building, partly converted into a karczma, stands beside a magnificent oak that is around 250 years old. The tree and building are both located at this site; only part of the school building was converted. This is a different aspect of the history from the construction date of the former school building in the village centre: here, the focus is on an approximate age for the tree and a structural alteration.

A Cycling Tour in 2021

One specific cycling-related event was the tour on 2 October 2021 as part of the “Zwiedzanie zgodnie z naturą” project. The 27 km cycling tour ran from Somonino through Egiertowo and along the Szlak Hutniczy to Borcz and Trątkownica; both the start and finish were in Somonino. Egiertowo was therefore along the route, not the starting point or destination. The date refers to a single event, not a recurring public route. If you are planning your own cycling tour today, check current route information; the distance and route described here relate to that historical event.
