The 23.2 km “Złota Góra”–Delewo cycling route passes through Brodnica Dolna, Ostrzyce, Wieżyca, Szymbark, Gołubie and Stężyca. Two kayak jetties have been built in Brodnica Dolna, on the upper and lower sections of the Radunia. Paths integrated into the existing terrain make it easier to access the jetties. Check the condition of the jetties and paths before your visit; before a cycling trip, it is advisable to check the current route markings.

Paddling on the Radunia

On the Raduńskie Lakes kayaking route, you must carry your kayak for 20 m in Brodnica Dolna to bypass a weir. Include this portage in your paddling plans and check the current conditions at the weir before setting out. Brodnica Dolna also has a water sports equipment rental service. Check in advance whether it is currently available and what equipment is offered for hire.

The information serves different planning purposes: the cycling route is defined by its length and sequence of places, while on the kayaking route, the portage at the weir marks a specific point along the way.

The lake and surrounding landscape

The nearby Lake Brodno Wielkie adds to the landscape around Brodnica Dolna. It is connected by bays to Lake Ostrzyckie and Lake Małe Brodno; the Radunia also flows through the lake. Its average depth is 6.6 m. The north shore is low and marshy at first, while farther south the shore rises to about 50 m above the water level. The nearby Złota Góra viewpoint offers a panorama of Lake Brodno Wielkie and the neighboring hills. There is a marina on the lake; check its current operating and access status in advance.

Culture and trails in the wider destination of Kartuzy

Those wishing to include Kashubian culture will find dedicated attractions in Kartuzy, within the wider destination. The Gothic collegiate church there dates from the 14th century, is one of Pomerania’s most valuable architectural monuments and is unique on a national scale; it bears witness to the work of the Carthusian Order. Its Baroque roof, shaped like a coffin lid, is a distinctive feature and symbolizes the Order’s monastic ideal and motto, “memento mori.”

The Franciszek Treder Kashubian Museum in Kartuzy presents literature, material culture, language, as well as regional history and traditions. Its exhibits are on display in eight galleries in the main building. They include Bazyli’s blacksmith’s workshop, the “Kaszubska współczesność z korzeni wyrasta” exhibition and temporary exhibitions.

The Promenada Asesora in Kartuzy is a walking and cycling path beside Lake Karczemne and is connected to the Ławka Asesora, which serves as a viewpoint over Kartuzy. The green Nordic walking route around Kartuzy runs entirely through the forest, across hilly terrain and past small forest lakes. It begins and ends at the Ławka Asesora.
