Okuniowiec can be viewed on two scales: a 47-kilometre route passes through the village, while construction projects from 2022 and 2024 describe local paths and the design of public spaces. This distinction is useful when planning your trip: you can consider a longer connection with several stops, or focus on specific facilities in the village.

The “Nad Szeszupę” Route

The “Nad Szeszupę” route is 47 km long. It runs from Suwałki railway station via Lake Okuniowiec and the village of Okuniowiec, past the buildings of Osinki and the Studzieniczne settlement, to the “Cmentarzysko Jaćwingów” nature reserve. The route therefore extends beyond Okuniowiec and has a clear geographical scope. For visitors planning a route with several stops, the section through the lake and village is the part specifically connected to Okuniowiec.

The 47 kilometres refer to the entire route and represent a different scale from the local footpath, which is 1,216.54 metres long. If you include the route in your plans, keep its full length in mind and check the current route conditions before setting out. This keeps the longer connection as a separate planning consideration, rather than confusing it with the measurements of municipal paths.

Paths and Public Spaces in the Village

A footpath along road No. 102016B and a road within the village was built using concrete pavers. It is approximately 1,216.54 metres long and 2.20 metres wide; the municipality gave final acceptance to the project on 28 November 2024. These measurements apply to this local footpath and describe a completed municipal construction project.

Another construction project involved the road from county road No. 1153B to municipal road No. 102016B. In 2022, it was upgraded from a gravel road to a paved road. The road is approximately 1,000 metres long and 5 metres wide, and has a bituminous surface, a pedestrian and cycle path, and street lighting. The length and width measurements refer to the road; 2.20 metres is the width of the footpath. This distinction makes it possible to tell the two municipal projects apart without mixing up their measurements or features.

On 23 July 2024, Gmina Suwałki gave final acceptance to the public-space design in Okuniowiec. It includes a leisure pavilion with four table-and-bench sets. A solar lamp lights the area in front of it. The pavilion and its facilities add a clearly identified public-space feature to the information about the footpath and road construction.
