Rybie can be explored through three themes: the remembrance of a cholera epidemic, the Church of St. Bartholomew the Apostle, and community activities at the “Świetlik” center. These offer different focuses for planning your trip: historical remembrance, church traditions, and an events program. You can tailor your stay to the theme that interests you most.

Memorial plaque, church and bells

The memorial plaque at the figure of Christ the King was erected in 1853 by residents who had survived a cholera epidemic. The date places it in the mid-19th century; the Church of St. Bartholomew the Apostle in Rybie has a much more recent construction history. It was built from 1986 to 2004 to a design by chartered engineer Jerzy Cander and consecrated on October 24, 2004. The construction period and consecration date describe different aspects: one gives the period in which it was built, the other the exact date of the church ceremony. Three bells bear the names “Św. Bartłomiej,” “Św. Łukasz” and “Św. Piotr.”

Church traditions throughout the year

The parish of Rybie venerates an image of Our Lady, Refuge of Sinners, Comforter of the Afflicted and Help of the Faithful. A novena to Our Lady, Help of Christians, is also held there on the 24th of every month. If you would like to include religious traditions in your plans, this monthly date offers a specific point of reference when choosing when to travel.

In 2024, the route of the procession with the Blessed Sacrament ran along Polna, 19 Kwietnia, Spokojna, Wesoła and Piaskowa streets and passed four altars. The route may change in subsequent years. If you plan to attend a procession, check the details for the relevant year.

Activities at the “Świetlik” community center

The community center has a well-equipped children’s playground and a sports field. The sports field is open every day of the week. The center hosts music, sports and art classes, concerts for adults and children, tournaments, competitions, meetings and lectures. Alongside historical and religious themes, organized activities and events are also on offer. Individual programs may change; if you are planning to attend a particular class or event, check the current schedule before your visit.

Getting around with bus route R2

In Rybie, the timetable lists stops on Wesoła, Spokojna, Wakacyjna and 19-Kwietnia streets. This makes it possible to match the route to specific stops in the village.
