Lubsko brings together medieval architecture and sacred buildings, memorabilia from the town, and activities at the Zalew Karaś. Outdoors, options range from a walking path in Park Miejski to a combined hiking and cycling route. This lets you plan cultural activities and outdoor recreation according to your interests.

Architecture and Music

Lubsko Castle already existed in the Middle Ages and features Gothic remnants. Today, the building is used by a social welfare institution. The Gothic traces provide a tangible architectural link to the town’s medieval history.

Wieża Pachołków Miejskich is considered the oldest building in Lubsko to have retained its original appearance. It dates from the 15th century, when the town’s fortifications were strengthened by expanding the gate structures. The brick tower has a circular floor plan and seven stories. The building can therefore be understood both through its preserved form and its connection to the town’s fortifications.

The Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary (pw. Nawiedzenia Najświętszej Maryi Panny) is the oldest sacred building in the town. It houses an organ dating from 1918, built by Gustaw Heinze of Żary. From 1999, the church hosted concerts of chamber and organ music. The instrument and concert history add two specific musical references to the architectural context.

The Regionalna Izba Pamięci offers a different perspective. Its collection includes artifacts and memorabilia from various periods in Lubsko’s history; themed exhibitions are also on display. Here, the focus is on objects and exhibitions rather than buildings. This gives travelers interested in culture a different way to explore the town’s history than viewing its historic architecture.

At the Zalew Karaś

The Zalew Karaś has a kayak launch, as well as seasonal rentals of pedal boats, kayaks, bicycles and go-karts. The options therefore include both watercraft and ways to get around on land. The body of water is open to anglers year-round. There is also a public playground at the Zalew. When planning, bear in mind the different conditions: fishing access is available year-round, while rentals are seasonal.

Walking Path and PTTK Route

A completed path runs through Park Miejski in Lubsko and along the Lubsza River. It is designated as a walking path. The green PTTK route also passes through Lubsko and is a combined hiking and cycling route. Its total length is 73.5 kilometers; this figure refers to the entire route, not just the section through Lubsko.

A connecting route leads from Lubsko (PKS) to Jezioro Głębokie and a recreation center in Grabówek. The distinction is clear when choosing: the path in the park is described as a walking path, while the PTTK route is intended for hiking and cycling and is 73.5 kilometers long in total. This makes it possible to distinguish the local path description from the length of the longer route.
