When choosing Pieszyce for a stay, you can weigh up a cultural and historical focus against a range of routes and landscape features. In the 19th century, the town developed into an important centre of weaving. Also on offer are rock formations and routes for hiking, mountain biking, cycling and cross-country skiing. Each of these has its own character: a long hiking route, technically demanding MTB terrain and seasonal ski trails appeal to different interests.

Weaving history and technical collections

The development of weaving in the 19th century gives Pieszyce a clear cultural and historical connection. If you do not want to plan your trip solely around sporting activities, you can make this connection to the town a focus in its own right, alongside the landscape and route options.

In the municipality of Pieszyce, the Muzeum Gór Sowich - Region Sudety is housed in a former factory building. It has a built-up area of 2,500 m² and occupies just under one hectare. Its collections include agricultural machinery and tools, household objects and appliances, as well as numerous machines and tools from various technical fields. Agricultural work, everyday domestic life and technology are thus presented as distinct themes. For trip planning, the collections complement the history of weaving with further aspects of work and everyday life.

Hiking trails and varied route profiles

The green-marked hiking trail passes through Walim, Przełęcz Walimska, Rozdroże pod Kokotem, Rościszów, Lasocin, Kozie Siodło, Sokolec, Ludwikowice Kłodzkie, Jugów, Przełęcz Jugowska and Kamionki before reaching Pieszyce. The full route is 34.4 km long. This makes its length an important factor when planning the hike. Check current trail conditions before setting out.

The Kamionki cycle route offers a different kind of route profile: it is an MTB trail with steep climbs, tight turns, and fast, technically demanding descents. This character sets it apart from the green-marked hiking route. Check current trail conditions before riding.

Nearby, illuminated shared footpaths and cycle paths connect Pieszyce with Dzierżoniów and Bielawa. If you are looking for a route connection rather than a designated MTB trail or a long hike, this provides another option with a different focus. The paths are lit at night.

Cross-country skiing is another seasonal option: there are six groomed ski trails in the Pieszyce area. Four can be reached from Przełęcz Jugowska; the other two start at Przełęcz Srebrna and Przełęcz Walimska. Check current conditions beforehand before including the trails in your plans.

Rock formations in the municipality

Niedźwiedzia Skała lies on the southern slope of Kozia Równia, along a section of the Główny Szlak Sudecki between Przełęcz Jugowska and Kozie Siodło. The rock formation is one of the youngest natural monuments in Lower Silesia. Its location along a section of the main hiking trail and its designation as a natural monument give it a different focus from the technical and historical collections.

The Siedem Sówek natural monument is a rock formation made of quartz conglomerate. It forms a wall of numerous small and large rock outcrops, ledges, towers and cliffs; the highest reach about 20 m. Here, the variety of rock formations described takes centre stage. Those interested in the landscape can distinguish between the two natural monuments by their different features: for Niedźwiedzia Skała, the location and route section are specified; for Siedem Sówek, the focus is primarily on the rock type, formations and approximate height.
