Two very different themes for discovery come together in Reichenbach: the plant diversity of the Wojsławice Arboretum and the industrial history of Młyn Hilberta. There are also peaks, walking trails and opportunities for a variety of outdoor activities. This lets you tailor your trip to your own interests—whether you are most drawn to systematic plant collections, a historic production line or getting active in the mountains.

Garden Spaces and Plant Collections

The Wojsławice Arboretum covers more than 60 hectares and contains almost 10,000 varieties of trees, shrubs and perennials. Seven National Plant Collections give it a distinctive focus: they are particularly extensive, exemplary in their labelling and cared for by specialists. The scale and systematic layout reveal two different aspects of the garden—the breadth of its holdings and the carefully curated selection of individual collections.

The arboretum is open to visitors from spring through autumn. As the exact opening days may vary, it is advisable to check them before your trip. Those particularly interested in specific groups of plants can use the seven collections as a guide; those wishing to take in the entire garden will find a different subject in its size and the diversity of its trees, shrubs and perennials.

A Mill’s Production History

At Młyn Hilberta, the focus is not only on the building but also on the production process. It houses a complete, operational technological production line for making flour, groats and bran. Visitors can follow the entire production process across all the mill’s floors. This makes the sequence of processing the central theme: the different products are part of one continuous production line, whose process extends throughout the building.

The mill was taken over by the Foundation for the Protection of Silesian Industrial Heritage in November 2016, converted into a museum and opened to visitors. Its history as a museum and the preserved production line give industrial heritage a tangible connection here. This makes the visit different from the plant collections in Wojsławice: in one, the focus is on the systematic diversity of plants; in the other, on the complete process of technical production.

Peaks, Trails and Outdoor Activities

The Owl Mountains offer opportunities for hiking and cycling, as well as alpine skiing and cross-country skiing. A prominent peak, Wielka Sowa, stands 1,015 metres high and has a historic observation tower. The natural area therefore offers a range of activities alongside a named peak and its historic structure, without requiring you to commit to just one way of enjoying the outdoors.

Three walking trails and a nature and education trail lead to the observation tower on Góra Parkowa. Their names alone distinguish them: alongside the walking trails, there is a route focused on nature and education. In Bielawa’s city park, meanwhile, there is a climbing course more than 200 metres long, with a variety of obstacles. These include a zip line, a suspension bridge, a swing, a net and a climbing wall. Check before your trip whether the facility is currently in operation.

Getting There and Finding Accommodation

Powiat dzierżoniowski is accessible by train and bus. The Sudeckie Centrum Komunikacyjne in Dzierżoniów connects rail, bus and road transport. As transport connections may change, you should check current services before your trip. This helps with planning without assuming a particular way of travelling there.

Lower Silesia in a Broader Context

Lower Silesia also offers cultural discoveries in its own right. The Churches of Peace in Jawor and Świdnica were built in the mid-17th century under the terms of the Peace of Westphalia and added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2001. They are the largest half-timbered Baroque churches in Europe. Książ is another example: the castle is the largest in Lower Silesia and the third largest in Poland; individuals and organised groups can visit it. These places broaden the picture of Lower Silesia without replacing the sights and activities of the Reichenbach destination.
