Bogusławice has a clear focus on horses: the stud farm, equestrian activities and murals in the palace are different aspects of this theme. There are also carriage rides, competitions and Section 15 of the Łódzki Szlak Konny. For your planning, it is therefore helpful to start by distinguishing between these options: would you like to focus on an activity at the stud farm, a competition or a route?
Stud Farm and Palace: Two Historical Perspectives
The Stado Ogierów w Bogusławicach was founded in 1921 for the Polish army on the former estate of the bishops of Kujawy. Its founding connects the history of the town with the stud farm’s purpose at the time; the year marks the institution’s historical beginnings.
Inside the palace, part of the castle and park complex, are equestrian-themed murals by Bohdan Kamiński. The horse theme is therefore also present in the palace’s interior decoration, not just in its activities. The history of the stud farm and the murals offer two different perspectives: the institution’s origins on the one hand and its artistic representation on the other.
Equestrian Activities and Seasonal Rides
The Stado Ogierów offers riding opportunities for all skill levels, for both leisure and sport. You can start by considering two aspects: your skill level and the purpose of riding. Check the booking details directly with the provider when making specific plans, as they may change.
Short pony rides in the saddle, supervised by a trainer, are offered for children; reservations may be required. The stud farm also offers carriage rides on routes around its estate, which may also require reservations.
Sleigh rides pass through forests and fields. They are a seasonal activity; availability depends on conditions, and reservations may be required. Unlike the riding opportunities, seasonal, weather-dependent availability is therefore especially important when planning.
Competitions and Guided School Visits
Official national show-jumping competitions for the Barbara and Andrzej Osadziński Memorial and official national dressage competitions are held annually in Bogusławice. Regional indoor dressage competitions are also held. The programme therefore features different disciplines and levels: show jumping and dressage at national level, and indoor dressage at regional level. Check the dates of individual events separately if you would like to plan your visit around a competition.
School groups can take guided tours of the 17-hectare grounds; reservations may be required. The visit includes the history of the stud farm as well as the palace, stable, covered riding hall, horse paddock, hippodrome, course, historic carriage house and pony enclosure. The guided format combines historical context with several areas of the stud farm grounds.
Section 15: A Route Through the Landscape
Section 15 of the Łódzki Szlak Konny runs from Bogusławice to Swolszewice Małe. It passes through varied forest and agricultural landscapes in the buffer zone of Sulejów Landscape Park, a remnant of the former Pilica primeval forest. The route thus has a different focus from the activities on the stud farm grounds: here, the named endpoints and the landscape along the section take centre stage.
If you plan to ride this section, check the route conditions before setting out. This helps distinguish route planning from the stud farm’s activities and events.
