Tylicz offers several different ways to explore: carbon dioxide rises from deeper layers of the Earth at the Tylicz mofetta, two hiking and cycling routes differ in length, and historic sites reveal different aspects of the town’s past. This gives you clear priorities when planning your trip—nature, activity or culture. The route lengths allow for a direct comparison, while the churches and Historical Trail offer different ways to explore the past.

Nature around Tylicz

The Tylicz mofetta is a natural outlet for carbon dioxide from deeper layers of the Earth. Gas escapes at several points, and marked paths pass by the outlets. So a visit to the natural site takes in several points along the paths, rather than focusing on a single outlet. The mofetta’s opening hours vary by season. When planning, check whether a visit falls within your travel dates.

Another natural attraction is the Bradowiec spring: it is enclosed by a concrete ring, covered by a decorative pavilion, and has an information board beside it. This setting offers a different focus from the mofetta, whose distinctive features are its several gas outlets and marked paths. Tylicz therefore offers two different nature experiences: a carbon dioxide outlet with paths running past it, and an enclosed spring with an information board on site.

Comparing hiking and cycling routes

Route length is an easy starting point for comparison: the Tylicka Loop is 10 kilometres long, while Kropla Delice is 7 kilometres long. Both are hiking and cycling routes. The Tylicka Loop passes the Tyliczanka water intake point, Szubienica and Horb; it then follows Route 75 to the summit of Ɓan. It is marked. Before setting out, take a look at the local trail markers.

Kropla Delice starts at the Kropla Beskidu bottling plant. At seven kilometres, it is three kilometres shorter than the Tylicka Loop. If your choice is based primarily on the stated distance, the difference between the two routes is clear: Kropla Delice is the shorter route, and the Tylicka Loop the longer one. The specific waypoints on the Tylicka Loop also give you a clearer idea of its route.

Churches and local history

The Parish Church of Saints Peter and Paul dates from 1612. The Greek Catholic Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian was built in 1743 and entered in the register of historic monuments on 5 September 1964. For this church, the construction date and the later registration mark two different points in time: 1743 is the year it was built, and 1964 the year it was entered in the register. Tylicz is also home to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Tylicz, known as “Protector of Families and Healer of the Sick.”

The Historical Trail from the town hall to Szubienica in Tylicz offers another perspective on the past. Its seven stops cover the town’s founding, court proceedings, robbers and religious conflicts. The trail thus focuses on several themes in local history, while the churches can be viewed in terms of their construction dates and historic monument registration. Those interested in history can choose between religious buildings and a themed trail—two different ways to explore Tylicz’s history.
