In Bolechowice, historic buildings, the protected Dolina Bolechowicka and three named cycling routes offer different ways to explore. You can plan your stay around your interests: neoclassical forms and building history, a landscape with protected status, or specific cycling routes with designated sections. When choosing a route, consider not only its colour but also its direction, destination and stated length.

Building history at the manor house and church

The manor house and its park surroundings were built toward the end of the 18th century and retain their neoclassical form. Distinctive features include a columned portico and a mansard roof. The portico places the columns prominently in front of the building; a mansard roof is identifiable by its broken roof profile. These features make the neoclassical design tangible: in addition to its period of construction, its preserved form is also a characteristic feature of the manor house.

At the Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul, some of the nave walls date from the 15th century. This section was altered in the 17th century and extended in 1912–1913. At the manor house, the preserved neoclassical form takes centre stage; at the church, its history is reflected in a section of the nave that was altered and extended. Those comparing historic architecture can thus see Bolechowice from two different perspectives, rather than judging both buildings solely by their age.

Dolina Bolechowicka and climbing

Dolina Bolechowicka was designated a landscape protection area in 1968 and covers 21.31 hectares. This adds a distinct landscape focus alongside the buildings. For climbers, there is a clear restriction: climbing on the rocks is permitted only on routes with existing fixed bolts. If you plan to climb, take this requirement into account when choosing your activities.

Cycling routes: direction, destination and sections

The blue “Szlak Brzozowy” cycling route is designated as a one-way route and passes through the centre of Bolechowice. The red “Podkrakowskich Dolinek” cycling route leads from Bolechowice to the “Jurajski Raj” rest area; this section is listed as 0.9 kilometres long. The green “średnicowy” cycling route runs from Zabierzów railway station through Bolechowice toward Karniowice. The section from Zabierzów to Bolechowice is listed as 3.8 kilometres long.

The details answer different planning questions: the one-way rule is an important feature of the blue route, a rest area is named as the destination for the red section, and the green route has a stated course and length for one section. The 0.9-kilometre section to the rest area is shorter than the 3.8 kilometres between ZabierzĂłw and Bolechowice. Both figures refer to the respective sections named. Check the route markings on site before setting off.
