Radziszów combines local cultural history with natural attractions in the surrounding area. The church, the Dzieduszycki Manor House and a wayside shrine chapel each offer a different historical point of interest in the village. Outdoors, attractions range from Bronaczowa Forest and its ponds to the Malowniczy Radziszów route, which leads up Wytrzyszczek Hill. When choosing where to stay, you can weigh up historic buildings and their furnishings against hiking, forest scenery and a weather-dependent view.

Church and Local History

The first documented references to a wooden church in Radziszów date from 1325; construction of the new brick church, by contrast, was completed in 1847. These dates therefore mark different stages in the village’s history. Inside the church, an oil painting from 1769 occupies the central place at the altar; it depicts Saint Lawrence. A stone baptismal font from the 17th century is believed to have remained in its original place during the fire of 1844. Early references to a wooden church, a later brick building and historic furnishings each offer a different way to explore the history of the church.

The church can be visited daily before or after Mass. Coordinate your visit with the Mass schedule and ask the parish for the current service times.

Manor House and Wayside Shrine Chapel

The Dzieduszycki Manor House offers a different cultural and historical perspective. The late Neoclassical building was constructed with funds from the Dzieduszycki family and was founded by the family in the 19th century. It was designed by Sebastian Alojzy Sierakowski, a Kraków architect and Jesuit. Here, the architectural style, the family’s patronage and the named designer can be considered together. At the church, by contrast, the focus is on its early construction history and individual furnishings.

Another historic building type is the wayside shrine chapel in the centre of the rural settlement of Radziszów. It dates from 1861 and is tall and two-storeyed. Together with the church and the manor house, it shows that the village’s architectural history is not limited to a single building. The chapel draws attention to a distinctive building type and its central location in the settlement.

Bronaczowa Forest and Wytrzyszczek

Bronaczowa Forest lies in the vicinity of Radziszów. A recommended hike there leads among oak, beech and fir trees that are more than 100 years old. Kingfishers are often spotted at the forest ponds, although sightings are not guaranteed. In the northeastern part of the forest, the “Kozie Kąty” nature reserve, covering an area of 26.52 ha, was established in March 1989.

The Malowniczy Radziszów route leads up Wytrzyszczek Hill. On a clear day, you can see Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, among other places, from there. The forest hike and hill route offer different kinds of scenery: the hike focuses on the old trees, while the view from Wytrzyszczek depends on clear weather. Watching kingfishers at the forest ponds is another option.
