Księginki can be explored through a range of travel interests: an erratic boulder designated as a natural monument, an evangelical cemetery and a bridleway through the village. There is also a historical record of the village dating back to 1210 and a harvest festival held on a specific date. If you are staying in Księginki, it is helpful to distinguish between them: the natural feature and local history relate directly to the village; the bridleway passes through Księginki as part of a longer route.

Erratic Boulders in and near Księginki

The erratic boulder in Księginki has a circumference of 780 cm and is designated as a natural monument. That is equivalent to 7.8 m around the stone. A second erratic boulder, with a circumference of 610 cm, lies 2 km west of Księginki at the roadside on the Podrzekta–Gaj road. The circumference of the boulder in the village is therefore 170 cm greater. The locations also distinguish the two: the erratic boulder designated as a natural monument is in Księginki, while the second lies to the west on the road named above.

Historical Points of Reference

Księginki has been documented in written records since 1210. At that time, Prince Władysław Odonic granted the village to the Cistercian monastery in Przemęt.

The remains of an evangelical cemetery lie on the southern edge of the village, at the edge of a small pine wood beside the field road to Małachowo. Those buried there include former mayors of Dolsk, soldiers from the First and Second World Wars, and residents of Księginki and neighbouring villages. The cemetery thus connects the village’s history with people from the surrounding area and with the history of public office in Dolsk. Another named local landmark is the Kapliczka Matki Boskiej Różańcowej (Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary). It is located in the garden of property No. 71.

A Harvest Festival Held on a Specific Date

On 4 September 2022, Księginki, in the municipality of Dolsk, hosted the harvest festival of Śrem County and the municipality of Dolsk.

Road Directions and Bridleway

Księginki has a junction with the county road to Nowieczka via Ostrowieczno. When finding your way around Księginki, note two road references: the second erratic boulder is by the roadside on the Podrzekta–Gaj road, 2 km west of Księginki; the junction in the village is on the county road to Nowieczka via Ostrowieczno.

A bridleway leads from the Mościszki forest district through Księginki to Mszczyczyn and continues from there to the Bogusławki Stud Farm. The route from Mościszki to Bogusławki is 22 km long; this figure refers to the connection between the two places, not just the section through Księginki. When planning, both the route through the village and the total distance are therefore relevant. If you plan to include the bridleway, check the current route before setting out.
