Kobylin combines a late Gothic parish church and other historic buildings with three described cycling routes that start and end here. This gives you a practical choice when planning your trip: you can focus on Kobylin’s church and architectural history, or choose one of the circular routes based on its length and the places along the way.

Circular cycling routes from and back to Kobylin

The three described circular routes start and end in Kobylin. They differ in length and in the sequence of places listed:

  • The 34-km route goes via Długołęka, Smolice, Sroki, Pępowo, Gumienice, Zalesie Wielkie and Zalesie Małe.
  • The 32-km route runs via Łagiewniki, Ochla, Kromolice, Wielowieś, Stary Gród, Kuklinów, Nepomucenów and Fijałów.
  • The 27-km route goes via Długołęka, Pawłowo, Leśniczówka „Lila“, Baszków, Trzaski, Lipowiec and Rzemiechów.

There is a 7-km difference between the shortest and longest routes; the 32-km option lies between them. The places along the way also distinguish the routes: Długołęka appears on the 34- and 27-km routes, while the 32-km route lists a different sequence of places. This lets you weigh up distance and route together. Check the current route before setting off.

Churches, chapels and architectural history

Kobylin’s parish church is a late Gothic building. It was built in 1512–1518 and remodelled in 1782. The main altar features a wooden Renaissance triptych from around 1518 depicting the legend of Saint Stanislaus, Bishop and Martyr. The construction date, later remodelling and altar art are distinct historical details.

Another notable building is the wooden clock tower from the 18th century, considered a remnant of an evangelical prayer house. Beside the monastery church stands a brick-built and plastered chapel from the same period. It contains two Gothic figures: Matka Boża Bolesna and Chrystus Frasobliwy. The figures and clock tower complement the late Gothic parish church with further, different testimony to the town’s history.

The Franciscan church in Kobylin is dedicated to Matka Boża przy Żłóbku. The Franciscans settled in Kobylin in 1456. Together with the parish church, this history offers a second perspective on the town’s sacred buildings: here the focus is on the order’s settlement and the church’s dedication, while there it is on construction phases and a particular altarpiece.

The town hall and historic houses are also among Kobylin’s important cultural monuments. The town hall stands in the market square, with the town’s coat of arms above its entrance. Such urban details broaden the picture beyond churches and religious art.

Local features and events

Kobylin lies on the Rdęca. Another specific local feature is the pond on ul. Grobla: the municipality of Kobylin’s first floating fountain was officially commissioned there on 10 May 2025. The date marks the fountain as a more recent addition alongside the historic buildings.

The two-day open-air festival “Powitanie Lata 2025” took place on 21 and 22 June 2025 at the Municipal Stadium. The 2026 edition of Powitanie Lata, organised by the Gminny Ośrodek Kultury in Kobylin, took place on the stadium grounds and spanned two days, with music, family activities and celebrations together.

For a culture-focused stay, churches, the chapel, town hall and historic houses take centre stage; for a cycling trip, the three routes range from 27 to 34 km and follow different sequences of places. These are two clearly distinct ways to experience Kobylin, which you can prioritise according to your travel interests.
