Siquijor Harbor is an important gateway for tourists: ships and fast boats from Dumaguete City dock here. When choosing accommodation on Siquijor, factor your arrival into your plans and then organize excursions by their main focus. Operators and schedules can change, so check the current service before finalizing your travel plans.

Views, Forest and Cave

A 15-meter-high observation tower stands on Mt. Bandilaan, offering 360-degree panoramic views across the entire island. The tower is a distinct highlight for travelers who want to take in Siquijor as a whole.

Mt. Bandilaan National Park is a 212-hectare forest reserve. It was established in 1940 under Presidential Proclamation 523, during the presidency of Manuel L. Quezon. While the tower is associated with panoramic views of the island, the National Park refers to a forest area with its own size and historical designation.

Cantabon Cave lies on the northeastern side of Mt. Bandilaan and is approximately 800 meters long. This means Mt. Bandilaan brings together different natural attractions: a viewpoint, a forest reserve and a cave. The tower offers views across the island, while the cave is a specific underground natural attraction; the forest reserve adds another perspective.

Landscape and Cultural Heritage in the Wider Area

Cambugahay Falls in Lazi is in the wider region. The waterfall has three tiers and lies in lush rainforest; its natural pool is surrounded by trees and wild-growing plants. Here, the waterfall’s form and its verdant surroundings shape the landscape.

St. Isidore Church also stands in Lazi. It was built in 1884 and has a preserved hardwood floor. Lazi Convent is considered the oldest and largest structure of its kind in Asia. The two buildings offer different points of interest for culture enthusiasts: the church’s construction date and preserved floor are specific details, while the convent stands out for its place among buildings of its kind.

River trekking along the Señora River in Lazi covers approximately 200 meters. Terrain and access can change, so check conditions before your visit.

The old banyan tree in Campalanas, Lazi, has stood for almost 500 years. At the site of the Centuries Old Balete Tree, visitors can enjoy a special fish spa experience. Check in advance whether the experience is currently available.

Water Activities and Seasonal Culture

In the wider region, kayaking, paddle boating, snorkeling and diving are offered at Caticugan Marine Protected Area. Access conditions can change, so check in advance which of these activities are currently available. Visitors can also observe sea turtles and other marine life at Tubod Marine Sanctuary, also in the wider region; water conditions and sightings may vary. The focus differs between the two: water sports take center stage at Caticugan, while Tubod is known for wildlife viewing.

Cultural events in the wider region, such as those in Maria and Larena, may also influence your choice of travel dates. In Maria, the Marias Lubi Festival takes place every year during the third week of May; it showcases products and uses of the coconut palm, from its fruit to its leaves and trunk. On May 1, the L tiendas Cano-an Festival in Larena includes a food festival called “Kan-anan ni Juan.” Festival programs can change, so check the latest dates before your trip.
