The Museo de la Revolución de Matagalpa focuses on a different part of history: it preserves and conveys the memory of the revolutionary struggle and the women and men who took part in it.

In Sébaco, the Museo Arqueológico de Chagüitillo uses four exhibition rooms to showcase the lives of Indigenous peoples. Exhibits include pre-Columbian urns, stone tools, grinding stones, and mortars. The Museo de Arqueología e Historia de Sébaco displays ceramics, statues, stone objects, and petroglyphs, as well as historical documents covering more than 300 years of local history. Altarpieces depicting historical figures and old documents cover, among other topics, the Guerra Nacional, the Constitutional War, and the move to Nuevo Sébaco de Asunción in 1833.

The Reserva Natural Cerro Pancasán in Matiguás combines a preserved cloud forest landscape with diverse flora and fauna. In Rancho Grande, Cascada La Selva has a drop of about six meters.

Handicrafts and hands-on activities are also part of the region’s attractions. In the municipality of El Plomo, the four craftswomen of Mujeres Artesanas de El Plomo make fashion jewelry from natural seeds. The Telares Indígenas are located in the Indigenous community of El Chile, about 23 to 30 kilometers south of the city of Matagalpa, along the connecting route to San Ramón and Muy Muy.
