'T Goy offers two distinct points of interest for planning a trip: architectural and commemorative history, and an 11.5-kilometre walk through nature and the landscape. Historic traces include municipal monuments and the remains of older buildings; the Natuurpad adds a specific route.

Buildings and Places of Remembrance

At Beusichemseweg 104 stands the R.K. Kerk O.L.V. Hemelvaart. It is listed as a municipal monument, including the cruciform church and its interior. Two other municipal monuments are also located on Beusichemseweg: De Laatste Stuyver at number 22 is a drive-through barn, and Oostrumhofstad at number 49 is a cross-house farmhouse. The selection therefore includes not only a church but also two types of rural buildings. The different forms offer a distinct focus for exploring architectural history.

The war memorial stands at the corner of Goyerdijk and Nachtdijk. It commemorates the crash of a British bomber beside the Amsterdam–Rhine Canal in ’t Goy on the night of 4–5 May 1943. The exact date and the connection to the canal make the event being commemorated specific; its theme differs from that of the architectural monuments. The remains of ’t Goy Castle and a brickworks are also located on Wickenburghseweg. ’t Goy also has the remains of an early medieval church. ’t Goy, also known as Oosterhem, was probably already established as a settlement centre.

History and Landscape

Landgoed Wickenburgh has a history dating back to the late Middle Ages. The estate is home to a 16th-century dovecote. The two dates complement each other: the estate has a long history, while the tower is associated with a specific century. Wickenburgh-Oost was laid out as an English landscape garden around 200 years ago. Winding paths and a wide variety of tree species characterise the grounds. Here, the focus is on designed landscapes, offering a different emphasis from the architectural and commemorative sites.

’t Goy lies on the Houtense Stroomrug. To understand the history of the landscape, it is also worth looking at the Houten–’t Goy region: for centuries, agriculture and livestock farming formed the basis of its economy. From the late 19th century onwards, the region increasingly focused on livestock farming and fruit growing. This development complements the individual monuments with the region’s economic history and shows how its focus changed over time.

On Foot Through the Goy Countryside

The Natuurpad ’t Goy is an 11.5 km walk focusing on nature, landscape and cultural history. About 4 km run alongside the Amsterdam–Rhine Canal; the rest follows small old dykes through the hamlet of ’t Goy. For those who want to explore these themes on foot, the Natuurpad offers a specific walking option. Route details may change, so check the current route before setting out.

Another route was described as permanent in June 2025: it runs from Houten through the Goy countryside and back to Houten. When looking for a holiday rental in ’t Goy, these different points of interest can help with planning. Consider whether you would like to focus your stay mainly on historic buildings and places of remembrance, or on a walk.
