Tafelberg is the highest point in Het Gooi and has been set up as a viewpoint. The clay pits on Tafelbergheide are also noteworthy: these excavated hollows are home to special plants such as centaury, yellow-wort, thyme and Carthusian pink. This means you can explore Blaricum’s natural landscape not only from a viewpoint, but also through the heathland’s distinctive features.
Trails through the heathland
The “Lammetje ontdekt de Gooise heide” experience trail is designed for children aged three to six and is about 1.5 kilometres long. Stone markers shaped like heathland sheep show the way. Since 2025, Tafelbergheide in Blaricum has also had a 1.5-kilometre accessible nature trail suitable for wheelchairs. Half of it is paved, there are no steep inclines, and visitors can use it independently. Accessibility features include a wheelchair-accessible toilet at Schaapskooi Blaricum and an extra-long picnic table.
The Tafelberg and Blaricummerheide route follows unpaved paths and passes the Goois Natuurreservaat’s Schaapskooi. Access arrangements for horse riders and carriage drivers differ in the Tafelberg and Blaricummerheide grazing area: horse riders use a cattle grid, while carriage drivers use a farm gate. Schaapskooi Blaricum is on Blaricummerheide, behind the De Eendracht restaurant at Oude Naarderweg 1 in Blaricum.
Village character and memorial sites
Blaricum’s old village, with its historic farmhouses, village buildings, hedges and winding brick streets, is designated as a protected village conservation area. Rosmolen is the last surviving horse mill in the province of Noord-Holland. It is also one of the rare combinations of a farm and its associated horse mill—a distinctive feature of the village’s history.
The Erfgooiersboom is located in the tower of the Dorpskerk. Blaricum artist Gerardus Lanphen carved it from a large oak trunk in 1971. The war memorial also recalls the village’s history: it is dedicated to all fellow citizens who died as a result of acts of war during the occupation. Brass Stolpersteine commemorate residents who were deported and murdered during the Second World War.
Art, studios and theatre
The cycling route for the “De Schilders van Laren & Blaricum” art-sign trail starts in Laren and runs mainly past the art signs in Blaricum. The route passes 16 information panels in public spaces. They display works by various artists who lived and worked in the villages.
Another art-historical connection is Piet Mondrian: in 1917, he worked in the former colonist’s hut of the Atelier van Mondriaan; the De Stijl art movement also emerged that year. Het Theater Blaricum offers a broad range of performing arts, from amateur ensembles to nationally award-winning artists. The historic building on Huizerweg was built as a bakery in 1906. Individual performances and dates vary, while the programme spans a range of performing arts.
Annual traditions
Kermisweek Blaricum is an annual five-day tradition that began as a harvest festival. Recurring events include bareback ring jousting and a lantern parade. Exact dates and programme details vary from year to year.
The sheep-shearing festival at Schaapskooi Blaricummerheide is also held annually, on the first Saturday in June. The festival includes a market with stalls and food trucks. The event brings the theme of sheep farming together with a local market.
Beach and park
At Voorland Beach, you can surf, stand-up paddleboard and swim; a lifeguard brigade monitors the beach. The water stays shallow for quite a distance. Public barbecue areas are also available. For a different kind of green space, the park along the river in De Blaricummermeent features a sea of colourful flowers and sports facilities.
