One of the main reasons to visit Zundert is Corso Zundert, the world’s largest dahlia parade. The town also offers Van Gogh sites and opportunities to explore the countryside on foot or by bike. When planning your trip, you can focus on the event date, cultural history, or walks and hikes.

Corso Zundert and the dahlias

Every year on the first Sunday in September, twenty neighbourhoods compete for the honour of taking part in Corso Zundert. This fixed date provides a clear reference point for planning your trip. In the lead-up to the parade, dahlias bloom throughout Zundert, so flowers are part of the Corso even before the event Sunday.

The days before the parade are also relevant when choosing your dates: during “Tik weekend” on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday before the Corso, the “Corsotour” begins. When planning, you can therefore distinguish between the start of this tour on the preceding days and the parade on the first Sunday in September. Check the event dates for the relevant year before finalising your stay.

Van Gogh and local culture

Vincent van Gogh was born and grew up in Zundert. The Vincent van GoghHuis stands on the site of his birth and offers an audio tour. The Van Goghkerkje in Zundert offers another link to the family’s history: Van Gogh’s father, Theodorus van Gogh, preached there.

The Van Goghmonument stands on Vincent van Goghplein and is free to visit. The Van Gogh Gallery Zundert displays and sells works by artists who have worked in Zundert as artists-in-residence. Admission to the gallery is also free; check the latest visitor information before your visit.

The Zundertse Akkermolen offers another historical reference point: it dates from 1665. Together with the Van Gogh sites, it gives a different perspective on local history from the annual Corso.

Walks with different themes

Two walks are each 8 km long, but have different thematic focuses. The Van Gogh walking route in Zundert passes six Van Gogh monuments. The Zundert Trappist walk is also still open to walkers. The Trappist brewery De Kievit closed in September 2025; the walk is separate from the brewery. Since they are the same length, the theme is the main factor in choosing which of the two routes best suits your interests.

Walks and countryside in the municipality

At VRC Zundert, visitors can walk along the bird enclosures in the nature education garden. The Oude Buisse Heide, by contrast, is in the municipality of Zundert, between Achtmaal and Schijf. There, walks pass through old woodland and alongside meadows, fields, fen lakes and farmsteads. This countryside is part of the municipality of Zundert and should not be confused with a walk through the town centre.

There are also different landscapes to explore on cycling trips. A cycle path runs along the Aa of Weerijs, a river formed by meltwater from the last ice age. The Bomenfietsroute passes through woodland, heathland and tree nurseries. One cycle route is defined by its location along the Aa of Weerijs, while the other is characterised by its sequence of woodland, heathland and tree nurseries.
