Vorstenbosch combines a 6.0 km IVN walking route with links to architectural and milling history. There are also two different alpaca activities: a scavenger hunt for children and an alpaca walk that can be planned in the forests of the De Maashorst nature area. This gives you a choice of landscapes, local history and activities with alpacas when planning your trip.

Walking at Bedaf and the Leijgraaf

The IVN walking route runs through Vorstenbosch alongside Bedaf and the Leijgraaf. Its length of 6.0 km is clearly specified, giving you a precise distance to plan around. The Bedaf dunes near Vorstenbosch, which the walk passes, were formed through the cultivation of heathland. This links the route to the landscape and offers insight into how the dunes came about. The cultivation of heathland is therefore part of this landscape’s history. Trail conditions can change; check them before your walk. The 6.0 km length provides a clear distance, while how long you take depends on your pace and breaks. Plan your walk with a time window that suits your own pace.

Church, chapel and Windlust

The Sint Lambertuskerk in Vorstenbosch was built in 1933 to a design by architect H.C. van de Leur. Its architecture is in the style of the Benedictine monk Dom Paul Bellot. The Kloosterkapel Vorstenbosch offers a different historical perspective: it was founded in 1938 by the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy of Ronse in Belgium. The church is notable for its design and architectural style, while the chapel is notable for being founded by a Belgian congregation. The church and chapel were established just five years apart: 1933 marks the construction of the church, while 1938 marks the chapel’s founding by a congregation.

Windlust adds milling history to the focus on religious buildings. It was built in 1860 as a ground-sail mill; in front of it stands the bronze sculpture group D'n Vorstenbossche Mulder. Milling history also includes a precisely dated milestone: on 1 March 2011, Windlust was ready to grind after a new pair of millstones had been installed and adjusted. The dates of the construction and founding histories differ significantly: Windlust dates to 1860, while the church and chapel date to 1933 and 1938.

Alpaca activities with different focuses

Alpaca Vorstenbosch offers children an Alpaca-Chilli scavenger hunt. They have to crack the codes on nine boxes. An alpaca walk in the forests of the De Maashorst nature area can also be planned. The activities have different focuses: the scavenger hunt involves solving code puzzles, while the other is a planned walk through the forests.
