For a trip to Hall, culture, walking and farm produce offer different focal points. The village church brings together Late Gothic architecture and painted decoration; on the trails, distance, path surfaces and landscape features provide different points of reference when choosing a route. A farm shop and farm visit add produce from the farm and regional products to the mix.

Late Gothic Church and Architectural History

The Late Gothic village church at Dorpsstraat 57 in Hall dates from the second half of the 15th century. Its brick structure is articulated with bands of natural stone. The vaults of the nave and chancel are richly decorated with Late Gothic paintings, including decorative foliage, figures of the Evangelists, a figure of Christ and coats of arms. This brings different religious motifs together in one building. The church’s materials and construction period, as well as its specific painted decoration, are all of interest when placing it in context.

The church’s furnishings also include a single-manual organ with an attached pedal. Built by J. van Loo in 1866, the instrument adds a later, precisely dated detail to the building’s medieval history. Southeast of Hall, the hunting lodge Het Leusveld and its coach house were built in 1911 for C.A.W. Nairac, the municipal secretary of Warnsveld. The design dates from 1909 and was developed by Apeldoorn architect J.A. Heuvelink (1879–1949). This makes it possible to distinguish between the design year and the year of construction.

Walking Routes with Different Profiles

The Hallsekerkepad runs through the countryside around Hall, with its characteristic steep slopes. The Hogestraat bus stop in Hall is an access point for this trail by public transport. The Stationswandeling is a 16-kilometre walk in Hall. It partly follows paved paths as well as wide and narrow sandy paths. The routes can be compared by different features: for the Hallsekerkepad, the landscape and access point are the main considerations, while for the Stationswandeling, they are its stated length and the described path surfaces. If you want to choose based on a specific distance, the Stationswandeling gives you a clear figure; the Hallsekerkepad, by contrast, highlights the characteristic steep slopes of the surrounding countryside.

Farm Shop and Farm Visit

Boerderij de Kruytbosch’s farm shop sells produce from its own farm: organic beef, free-range chicken and turkey, organic vegetables, organic potatoes, apple juice, free-range cheese and eggs. It also stocks regional products such as sourdough bread, lamb, honey and products from Land van Ons. Availability may vary by season. If you are coming for a particular product, check that it is available before your visit.

The two farm offerings focus on different experiences. At Boerderij de Kruytbosch, the focus is on buying farm produce and regional products. At the farm run by Manfred and Alien Holtslag, visitors can explore the grounds and sample products in the farm shop. The options range from browsing a varied selection of goods to visiting the farm and tasting its products.
