Bant offers different highlights for cycling trips: technical trails in the bike park or cycling tours starting in the Kuinderbos. There are also tangible traces of Noordoostpolder history. If you are considering whether Bant fits your travel plans, these different sides of the town may help you decide.

Bike Park Bant: two different routes

At Bike Park Bant, the blue route is easy to follow and relatively straightforward. The red route requires technical skills. This distinction helps you match the trails to your own riding ability, rather than assuming they have the same level of difficulty. The bike park includes, among other features, a wall ride, rock gardens, a pump track section and wooden North Shore features. These facilities make the park a specific destination for anyone looking for technical features while cycling.

Cycling routes: a circular tour or start and finish in the Kuinderbos

The Polder en Dijkenroute starts at a tourist transfer point in the Kuinderbos near Bant. It goes via Rutten to the dike and then through Friesland. As a circular route, it eventually returns to the starting point. This makes the character of the route easy to understand: it combines the journey via Rutten and the dike with a return to the start.

Another option is the recreational cycling route “Polderproeven De Veenkuil”. It starts and finishes at the De Veenkuil nature campsite in the Kuinderbos near Bant. The two routes therefore differ in more than just their names: the Polder en Dijkenroute is described as passing through Rutten, along the dike and through Friesland, while the nature campsite is the key landmark for Polderproeven. If you want to choose a circular tour, the Polder en Dijkenroute explicitly includes a return to the starting point.

Getting around by e-bike

At the Deelfietshub Bant, you can rent an electric bicycle from Deelfiets Nederland and return it at another bike hub, including one outside the Noordoostpolder. This means you can plan to return it somewhere other than where you started. Check availability for your planned dates if the rental service is an important part of your trip.

Forest and the history of the Noordoostpolder

The Kuinderbos is the largest and oldest forest in the Noordoostpolder. The forest is also home to a replica of an underground resistance shelter. It is a symbol of the liberation of Kuinre and the Noordoostpolder by Canadian troops on 16 and 17 April 1945. This brings the area's history to life at a specific location, while the Kuinderbos also includes cycling route start and finish points near Bant.

The aqueduct on Schoterweg is also part of the history of water management: it is a rare component of the water supply system in the Noordoostpolder. In the village, the Bantsiliek is now used as a multifunctional centre. This adds a different perspective on Bant to the cycling and nature themes: alongside the landscape, it focuses on a structure belonging to the water supply system and the present-day use of a village centre.

When looking for a hotel in Bant, you can weigh these differences according to your travel plans: do you want the bike park to be the main focus, a cycling tour with clear starting points, or an interest in forest and polder history?
