Pošćenje can be explored through its natural features and local history: the Nevidio Gorge is in the village, the Pošćenje Lakes shape its landscape, and stećci stand in the village cemetery. You can plan canyoning, activities at Eco Village Nevidio and a cultural stop as separate parts of your stay.

Nevidio Gorge and Canyoning

A traverse of the Nevidio Gorge generally takes three to four hours; water levels and the group’s fitness affect the actual duration. Eco Village Nevidio also offers a three-hour Nevidio canyoning route, including guides. For canyoning in Nevidio, plan on hiring an experienced guide and bringing suitable equipment. For your itinerary, it is worth distinguishing the general traverse duration from the duration of a specific tour. Check the provider’s current activity information, as it may change.

Accommodation and Activities at Eco Village Nevidio

Eco Village Nevidio is in Pošćenje, 450 metres from the main road connecting the Bay of Kotor with Belgrade via Žabljak. It is the last stop before the Nevidio Gorge.

Eco Village offers a two-hour Village Hiking Route. For mountain biking, it rents out bicycles and provides mapped mountain routes. Since the provider’s activities and services may change, check tour and rental information before making plans.

Eco Village offers nine mountain cabins for accommodation. Depending on their size, they are configured for four or six guests. The number of cabins and occupancy configurations may change, so check availability and occupancy before booking.

Landscape and Local History

The Pošćenje Lakes contribute to Pošćenje’s distinctive landscape. About 1.5 kilometres north of the village, the Grabovica flows into the Komarnica; brown trout and grayling are found in the Komarnica. There is also a waterfall in Pošćenje.

Visitors can see stećci—medieval tombstones—in the village cemetery. One of them is a relocated, elongated stone box tomb with unusual decoration. This offers a way to combine a cultural stop with the natural features of the trip.

Regional Context: Šavnik

In the wider destination of Šavnik, Dragišnica and Komarnica Nature Park lies in the far northwest of Šavnik Municipality. The park covers 2,994 hectares, includes the cadastral area of Pošćenje and is classified as a Category III protected area under Montenegro’s national regulations. The hiking trails in the nature park range from easily accessible walking paths to mountain climbs at elevations of nearly 2,000 metres. The Nevidio Gorge was first traversed in its entirety in 1965, after long remaining unknown and impassable to people.

Local Food

Etno Selo Nevidio serves homemade food made with local ingredients. A menu version for Eco Village Nevidio, apparently dating from 2020, lists kačamak with sour milk, lamb cooked in milk, traditional smoked sausage with boiled potatoes, and cicvara. If you have a particular dish in mind, ask about its current availability beforehand.
